Why not make a DLC for Verdun?
That game was successful and had a good playerbase for years. Now, we have Tannenberg which died extremely quick, and the solution is to make another standalone????? Why make another ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game if it's gonna be dead again? I'd like to play against other players. Also marketing is such a huge factor of having a playerbase. This game's name isn't memorable or easy to market. I love historical shooters so much but it pains me to know this game won't survive past a few months at most.

You split the playerbase with these new games...didnt you learn from tannenberg?

Because that runs in to the exact same issues as you already have. You still split the playerbase and block new people from the series to get in to it as they now have to buy two items rather than one.

Names is always going to be hard to market no matter what. Name Verdun isn't that well know from my experience either.

If you need the DLC to play the new maps, it will split the community no matter what.

should have been updates and DLCs from the get go.

nah man, looks like theyre using a new engine but i could be wrong. either way it looks AAA compared to the last 2. definately would rather have this than just more verdun/tannenberg with fallout 3's graphics

It wouldn't work. Would mean having to cancel Isonzo and restart from pretty much scratch due to the core changes. Also at a price of $60 you'd never see any other addition to the series.

Because it didn't have that much content, which means it had a cheaper production cost and could be priced less to still make profit.

RS1 didnt have that much content because it started as a mod in first place, despite the amount of content it had still was very impressive to become part of a base game as well.
As for Isonzo and Tannenberg it could have been made as a DLC for Verdun in first place and players could play on every map, but still be limited to some most ♥♥♥♥♥♥ squad in a DLC meaning if they wanted something better they had to pay for it.
Sounds as a great marketing option and doesnt split the playerbase either, everyone gets what he wants.

It had less overall content than Verdun got in the free HoW patch. They added content that expanded the front it was covering.

It would also still have split the player base as they had very different game modes with different set ups.

It also then limits what can be done as you are restricted to a game that first hit Steam in 2013.

One way would be to move the objectives across the three games, one/two map for each games to reach a final match - somehow link the three games together to keep the player base active
