Lichen | Doors

I am struggling to find cave lichen for lights. I'm skimming along the walls of caves to find but nothing. Can anyone help?
Oh also I have keys to doors but pressing E doesn't do anything, anyone else have this issue?

Hello! The lichen are in the cave. You have to stand closer to the door to get it to open :)

I'm still unable to find Lichen. I've been to both caves on the starting island; the half cave and the full cave that you can swim into.

In both instances, there are gems on the wall and/or clay on ground to gather but no Lichen.

I've even repeatedly clicked 'E' as I ran along the wall and activated Quantum Control while doing the same thing and I neither see nor collect Lichen.

Is Lichen even on the starting island or do I have to wait till the next zone?

Perhaps it's only gatherable at night? Does it light up in any way?

There is a cave icon on your map. There is a door there that you can access with a key. follow the instructions on the plaque next to the cave door entrance to find the key. You won't find lichen in any of the caves you mentioned. You have to access the huge underground cave on the map.

So how does one see in this cave, if there is no Lichen (or silver for that matter) to make a headlamp before you get to this cave, in any previous caves?

I've been in the cave beyond the locked door. It's pitch black and the only thing I can see it the red/blue icon carved into the wall on the far side.

Everything/everywhere else in that cave is doused in darkness so there is no way to see anything.

I'm not sure I understand the reason for getting the ability to CRAFT a headlamp in a previous land where there are 2 materials missing in that land to craft the item to begin with (Silver & Cave Lichen).

Am I supposed to turn up my brightness and contrast all the way to see the cave lichen and silver on the walls or do I just randomly wander around, pressed up against the wall, hoping I blindly come across both materials and get a prompt to harvest them.

All very counter-intuitive and bass-ackwards if you ask me.

i dont get it too. no silver and no cave lichen = No Light for Caves ?

Were is the door? Wich Island?

You can see enough in the cave to find lichen and silver. There are symbols on the map and check beneath any water for the keys

I had the same issue finding cave lichen in the dark without being able to build a head light. I carried enough wood and stones with me to build a firepit. Maybe some excercise is neccessary to find the firepit in the dark after having it built! However, if I build it and make two steps foward, I'm able to enlight the fire. From there it should be easy to move on and get enough silver and cave lichen to build the head light.

let me help you guys out, both silver and the cave lichen cannot be found in the first biome if i remember correctly. dont do the cave in first biome untill you unlock 2nd biome. there you can enter the cave and very quickly find both the lichen and silver. as for lights, you can always bring resources to build a few campfires.....

I just did this one. Wow what a painful process!

I went to the second biome cave and used campfires as recommended. The campfires have a very small light radius. Finally I gave up and only put them next to the glowing glyphs and stumbled around blindly. By the time I got the headlamp crafted I was low on everything, getting hypothermia, and was greeted by a wolf right outside the door.

Actually killed the wolf and while trying to harvest it, got sucked back through the door. Pressing E for any reason too close to a gate will do that to you even if you are not facing it. Light the first campfire inside the door had that problem too and it was a few steps inside.

Added: The Enen cave was much easier than the second one. Just hug the right wall. Both lichen and silver are in there. No need to wait for the second one. Hugging the right wall works for the second one too, but not as quickly. I was trying to go left at first and that wasn't working. Only problem is that the Enen cave and third ruin were very hard to find.

There's some light just inside the entrance at the Enen cave. This should be enough light to explore a several meters into the cave where you should find a few silver and lichen--enough to make the head lamp.

Definitely do not stray any further than this without the light, for the cave curves into most likely pockets. Tried to go blind around the whole cave, sticking to the right wall, but had to reload (construct a temporary small shelter to save before you go inside).

The cave is a maze with many side tunnels, bring enough coconuts and extra water in a canister plus food. It is very big with extra loot in there as well other than a ton of silver and cave lichen.
