I'll be digging through the conversations on here later to see if I can find some videos of the gun firing noise persisting: I had believed that to be resolved a while ago and I haven't seen it myself, so I'll need to get some video evidence for QA to speed up the issue replication.
On the Hammerhead access reverting to its intended state: We make all DLC weapons only early access, and can be unlocked through play not long after the DLC is initially released. Fortunately, Dutch 2025 was one of the first DLCs so the weapon is now unlockable through play. Unfortunately, the Hammerhead is a bit high in the free unlock level requirement at 115.
I also think it is unreasonable to not deal with bugs in a game people paid for in a timely manner. I would like to no longer have issues where my left click does not fire my weapon, and my right click will not aim down sights. These things should never, ever, have hick ups in an FPS game.
Steam users didn’t get a pre-order bonus, a week one deal, or really much of anything other than the game just randomly being out. Feeling entitled to free stuff isn’t really a legitimate excuse when said free stuff was in our hands for almost three weeks (enough time for the 2 week refund period to pass).
Removing content after people can no longer return the game does seem a bit off.
It is reasonable to think that some people loved playing Dutch because of the movies, and they enjoy recreating the experience. They may not have realized it was meant to be paid DLC when they bought it and it was all available to them. (To be honest, I didn't know. It just doesn't bother me too much.)
Removing content due to the company's error, after people can no longer refund the game does seem awkward. Not charging people money for content that was intended to be paid for and not for free is also awkward.
I am convinced that there may have been no good move here...except fixing the long standing bugs.
Again, I want my clicking of the mouse to work 100% of the time. There is absolutely no reason this bug should exist past an alpha.
PS - I'd appreciate some more dev input, please...
I am also not a programmer, but we identified a few issues that were super important to fix quickly. A clipping exploit was found in Airstrip, for example, so that was part of the update (plus we had to spend time trying to find additional ways some of the more persistent exploiters out there would continue to cause issues), as well as fixing availability of items in the free fieldlockers, or (fun one) if the Predator's bear traps were destroyed while being deployed, they could still trap Fireteam players. One thing I can confidently state, though, was that the DLC resolution was rolled into the hotfix, but was not the cause of the hotfix. Plus, we are actually a small team, so it takes a little bit of time to do make a new build, then test on (now) 3 different platforms.
As for the broader points, it's a legit bummer about the whole situation. I'm glad that a lot more people (unintentionally) got to see the work that was put into Dutch and Dante (Personally I think Dutch 2025 is the pinnacle of badass), but I'm bummed that people are disappointed. I want people to like a game that I think is genuinely fun. As for l/r click issues, personally I've never run across that but if people could link me, I'd love to make sure it gets logged. Additional information would be super helpful too. I came from the HW world, so I'm all too familiar with things like devices with virtual HID level device instances (for device programmability functionality) causing all sorts of weird issues with input
I'll never besmirch someone for holding true to their personal ethics. To be clear: The weapons and equipment those characters have are accessible through level-gated unlocks. The character classes, with the unique likenesses and voice lines, are the DLC. So weapons like the Hammerhead and the rocket launcher are things you can unlock. And with future DLC, I would expect the same: The unique character classes themselves are paid DLC, the weapons will become unlockable to everyone a short time later. Unfortunately I can make no observations on the refund process: I'm not a part of the process nor have I ever refunded anything on Steam.
If you got the Predator pack and your rebreather mask isn't accessible, that would be a very, very interesting thing for me to get in front of Backend and QA. Game entitlements are (usually) a pretty straightforward thing, so if something is amiss, it's amazing what other things you can shake out. Sorry about not seeing on the other thread: I'm stretched super thin right now :p
***edit: added a word for clarity
The class and mask. Also, for what it's worth, this thread reminds me of the Friday 13 threads except the community manager isn't calling us snowflakes.
"You died, now be mildly inconvienced" kinda things. ♥♥♥♥ im stupid
Savini Jason? Yeah, it does and I won't open that can of worms, but I had the exact same thought.
With all of this in mind, hopefully Illfonic can come up with a way to make it up to those affected. I really and truly believe this was not the correct way of handling this situation, especially considering that Steam got the game a year later with no pre-order incentives. It feels like we're the "red-headed step-child" of the community.
