Can you earn achievements in a private match? I tried google, but I couldn't find anything. I ask cause it doesn't say either way and you know there's always one try-hard that just says "no" in public matches.

yes, you can indeed earn achievements in a private match

You can, but for some of them you have to be the group leader I believe

You can get most achievements in private matches, the only one that doesn't work with AI is precision leaper. Precision also is difficult to do in private matches with bots, but you can get it pretty easily if you have a friend to do it. I'd definitely recommend doing the traditionalist achievement in a private with bots, since it's a bit bugged and going into trees, leaping and even claiming will cancel the achievement even if you just use wristblades.

Thanks for the intel. I know a guy that would help me with this. Also, can find the OWLF recordings in private matches? I ask cause every time find them in public, I die from a try-hard tank/one-shot hybrid predator. EVERY. FREAKING. TIME.

Apparently you can get tapes in private matches, haven't done it myself but I've seen posts on the subreddit saying you can.

Quick tip getting the traditionalist achievement with bots: change the modifiers for bot damage and health down to 10%. That way they won't completely melt you with their aimbot accuracy.

Iv'e been in over 100 matches with the bots so I could grind for XP and never found the tapes. Do you need the predator in the match for them to show up or something?

Yeah I honestly wouldn't have a clue. Possibly that might be the case. I only played private matches maybe 5 times, mostly just to get achievements and early on just to get a hang of the mechanics.

I don't know what the specifics are for tapes spawning but in my experience it sometimes feels like they don't even spawn at all, even during public matches. I play with someone who will use the UAV scanner just to run around parts of the map where they're most likely to spawn and use that to find them. Sometimes one will show up, most of the time we won't find one.

I've tried searching for a guide that shows you where the tapes spawn and there's nothing online for it. I've read comments saying they spawn in the same place as the veritanium fragments you can pick up for in-game currency, but I swear I've picked up a tape or two where for certain they aren't located so I'm not 100% sure if that's the case.

Yeah..... After I posted that, I found 3 of them while getting the fireteam challenges. I think they're just stupidity rare spawns. Like trying to get a perlesent (or however its spelled) in borderlands 1 and 2.

Now I face a new problem. Me and a friend are trying to get the combistick achievement, but we have no way to tell where 100m would be. Also, I hit all four fireteam members in one slam attack, but didn't get the achievement. Is it bugged or can they not go down and/or be done with any bots?

I think they spawn into the map most of the time, it's just that there are such a large number of locations that it's easy to miss them. Basically, anywhere that can load veritanium drops will sometimes switch out for one of the tapes. Once you get an idea of where the largest mass-drop areas are, you can use the UAV perk to make finding them easier. I've found three-quarters of the total 40 this way.
