Another one of these games? Just hopeless
Why, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WHY are devs and sHaREhOLdErS targeting classic horror movie franchises to turn into live service asymmetrical slop games?

Everyone of these projects has been a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pump-and-dump operation.

Friday 13th?
Evil Dead?
Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
Predator Hunting Ground?

All dead within a year of release.

Dead by Daylight isn’t even a money pig. It’s a niche game with a larger than expected audience. Why are corpos treating this like a gold rush???

Make a REAL ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horror game you cowards. Stop abusing these IPs with sh!tty live service slop fests.

Literally all of you are renting this game and will be crying “GaME dEaD” in about 6 months. Yet I’m sure there will be kids replying to this thread telling me I’m wrong and saying I’m “clown bait”

Just pathetic the state of this industry

I mean even I can rationalize stuff like is this a big market or a niché super narrowed market with little to none player base potential left.
Do I have the funds to endure?
If it's based on franchise then what's left after you run out of killers?
The genre market perception is very saturated already. Will players welcome just another game and bet their money rather than a surer competitive which is DbD with so many killers and play styles and things to do.
....etc
So many problems.

If the game is good enough maybe I'd pay 40$ for a year's worth of access to it.

This isn't exactly a new concept either. MMOs still have subscription based models. They're just less common than they used to be. A yearly WoW subscription is like 150$.

Yeah but I can still log into WoW.

Try logging into Friday the 13th
Try getting a match on Evil Dead

Probably says more about you that you can't just enjoy something for what it is.
If it's not for you, go and find something that is.
There are plenty of non goofy party horror games.
I'd suggest giving Amnesia a try.
Pure horror games just don't make a lot of money.

For me personally, I had more fun in F13 with the voip and wackiness than I've had with most games I have played in my lifetime.
And I'm someone who kickstarted F13 and have horror icons tattooed all over my arm.
I'm not going to start frothing at the mouth because a game isn't exactly what I want, I will just find another game.

Dbd is the most successful "horror" game and it stops being tense after a week of playing, it also is full of uwu e-girl cosmetics and joke skins that contradict the genre. But it makes a lot of money.
Dude it doesn't stop being tense after a week of playing it if you played it in 2016......man it was soooooo goooood.

Aren't most people playing that game modded at this point?

Can you log into wow and play your character once you stop paying the renter's fee? Or what if Blizzard goes defunct? Would you be able to then? Paying to rent WoW for tens years is 1,500$ worth of money too. Kind of pricey considering it's a form of renting only.

Or what if they change the game in a direction you disagree with.
You can no longer play the game you once loved.

Because the devs allowed the mods man.
Something I respect about Reign of Kings is that the devs still let the private, community servers work, you can still play it with community servers.

So not a single solitary soul has told you yet? You don't own a single game now adays, unless it is a physical copy (Which they hardly make anymore.) You instead rent a digital license that you have indefinitely BUT can be revoked at anytime the developer/publisher sees fit, provided you break their EULA. Which is why most games have a contract you hit "Agree" on and this game is no different.

There is a difference between a EULA vs a cynical cash grab that’s designed to milk short term gain with plans to dump after a year or two of service

Don’t be obtuse. Of course EULAs exist. They’ve existed since ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Tomb Raider 1

You know this is different. Stop deflecting

I guess. It's not like physical media has been much of a thing for a long time though, especially with PC gaming. And beyond that, you can still get busted for even copying the physical media you do own. If you wanna go even further than that, most of the games and consoles I and I'm guessing you grew up on are degrading over time. Digital is pretty inevitable.

Yes, they did exist in TR1, but you OWNED the game, you don't own anything now adays and this isn't a 40 dollar demo lol. You're the one being obtuse here.

Not walking down this path with you about physical vs digital. Trying to smoke screen me out of my original point

Admit you paid $40 for a planned obsolescence game and move on.

These games pop up like weeds and suck balls every time until they inevitably get neglected by the devs and are shut down

Again, genius, I can still play Tomb Raider 1
You ain’t gonna be able to play this ♥♥♥♥ in 2030. Fact
