im not defending dbd
do you have any idea how many fantastic games you can buy for $20?
i dont really review games (the last review i posted was from 2022 and most of my reviews are obvious jokes) i also mainly play on console these days. steam hours literally mean nothing as other platforms exist
IDV is a mobile game. Way more popular in China and Japan. Huge esports scene. HUGE merch lines. And it’s neteases most popular game.
The game was made by DBD’s dev team. They announced that as such on official channels.
Its userbase is DOUBLE the size of Genshin impact. That is how popular it is.
However; they’ve done NO advertising in the west. So the game is relatively unknown in the west for people who don’t look for it.
It makes 10 million dollars annually. NOT including the millions they make in merchandise sales and crossovers. Its financial and critical success is undeniable.
IDV has 300 million users world wide. https://www.gamespress.com/Identity-V-Achieves-300-Million-Visitors-Worldwide-Luxury-Rewards-inco#:~:text=NetEase%20Games'%20first%204v1%20Asymmetric,getting%20so%20many%20continuous%20visits!
Dead by daylight has sold 5 million copies.

However, saying game is irrelevant and meaningless compared to DBD isn’t a good take. Because DBD literally developed idv. It uses very similar systems. So the game is essentially still a DBD product.
im being honest and realistic. the facts are that DBD has no competition (mobile games are not only hot garbage but its also a completely different market so that netease game doesnt count) and games like this besides DBD do not last long. the devs of this game have released multiple games like this and ALL of them died within a year
fair enough
Sir.
You DO realize that DBD MADE the hit ‘garbage game’ “Identity V” you are referring to.
It absolutely counts. DBD’s developer helped make the game and I believe do DBD even has stock in that game lol.
So it being ‘irrelevant’ couldn’t be more false.

Netease bought behavior, behavior nothing to do with Identity V.
I like IDV a lot more personally.
However,
I would like ANY OTHER asym to succeed. I like stealthier Asym games; but DBD and IDV arent that stealthy. It’s more about mind games and chasing over the mechanics of escaping.
For me, TCM was SOOOOOOOO close. It felt more authentically like a true escape room with insane potential… But people who made it have failed the game.

So.. I hope killer klowns lasts. Getting the game is tempting for the preorder content… But I unfortunately share the skepticism. So many of these games don’t last; so it’s hard to be hype about them anymore.
This game being like F13th is a big plus. That game had a lot more stealth escape realism than DBD does. But.. Being disappointed over and over again by this genre of games is just really demoralizing. I hope for the best. But it’s just hope.
Been playing Dbd since release.
behavior had nothing to do with Identity V.
Netease bought a decent amount of shares in behavior like most chinese companies do.
They also produced their Dbd mobile game.

They did buy shares in 2019. But behavior collabed with them to make the game before that.
Anyway. I’m not arguing with you further on statements behavior themselves have made.
