Can't Map Buttons to Qanba Arcade stick

I'm trying to map the buttons to my Qanba Obsidian and no luck, my options/start button by default is an ability in this game. it makes my stick feel all over the place. has anyone had anything similar to this issue and found a way to solve it?

I have a fighting stick 3 and can't map anything to it. I can use the stick to move around the options, and 1 button works to initiate the bind, but when a press a button to have it bound, nothing happens. I have to hit escape to back out of the binding. None of the buttons actually work to fight either.
