BUG: ESC not working when I start chapter 2

I just finished Chapter 1, have had no problem in bringing up the menu by pressing ESC to save/load/quit during this time.
But now in Chapter 2, every other button seem to work except the ESC button, so I was not able to save my game now nor quit for the night. (I ended up pressing ALT-F4).

This was the first time I reached Chapter 2, so have not tried to redo the steps that led to this bug. Considering I cant access the save function (I dont think there is a quicksave on F5 either nor do I think there is autosaves), I'd say its a gamebreaking bug when it do happen as I cant continoue my when I hardquit the game,

EDIT: Another thing I just noticed when the ESC button stops working is that the sound seems to bug out as well. The only sound I hear is the "dramatic" theme music, and the voices of succesful or botched operations stop. Just a small detail to add regarding the bug.

I had the same problem, but tabbing out of the game sometimes opened the game menu and automatically and I was able to save.

But I also consider this a game breaking bug, that should be fixed.

not working when I start chapter 2 it keeps freezeing for second going ok second constantly and not my fps as chapter 1 was all ok

can't bring out the menu even from alt-tabbing. This one just top up my frustration.

Also getting this bug unfortunately. Have so far had very few but this did hit me in Chapter 2

I had to quit the chapter and restarted chapter 2 it fixed the bug.

The bug I am having right now is in chapter 2 I have no finite control over getting resources or staffing. it is either all of them or none at the moment. Edit: at the train station I mean. (A new restart, turn game off and on again, seems to again, fixed the problem)

managed to get around this bug by clicking on the ? icon from one of the windows,
that opened the encyclopedia,
upon closing that page it opened the main menu allowing me to save/quit.

This worked for me. I've had the "ESC"-bug happen a couple of times now, and this gets me to the menu so I can save and reload.
Another thing I noticed was that if I just reload from the menu I'll still have the ESC-bug, but if I quit the game and restart it then the reload with start without the bug.
