Castlevania: Circle of the Moon Randomizer
The COTM randomizer reached open beta. It's available here for download: https://github.com/calm-palm/cotm-randomizer

The randomizer program and its logic were developed by myself, DevAnj did the reverse engineering and assembly, and Fusecavator worked on reverse engineering and assembly also, especially for optional patches to change the randomizer rules.

There are many optional rules and patches that can be used with the randomizer, but the default options randomize enemy item drops and the item pedestals. Key items can show up on random pedestals, including in hidden rooms, for a different path through the castle.

Freezing or petrifying enemies with the Mars or Mercury + Serpent or Cockatrice combinations counts as a progress item, so you may be required to use those miscellaneous spots for progress (a picture with those spots is in the download if you get stuck). The spoiler log can also be used with the map in the download to track down items.

Also, this includes DevAnj's "Card Up" mod in its logic, which places DSS cards on pedestals throughout the castle instead of having to farm them from enemy drops, though the locations it places those cards are now random instead of predetermined.

If you just want to use some of the mods included in those optional patches below, the IPSes are available in the download and are packaged separately, so you could use a few of those mods with a non-randomized game if you wanted.

Some options (Names from website):

“Ignore Cleansing”: Ignore Cleansing when placing magic items. You may be required to traverse Underground Waterway without Cleansing.
“Auto Run”: Enable permanent dash. You will always have the effect of Dash Boots applied without needing to double tap direction inputs
“DSS Patch”: Disable switching to DSS effects from unobtained cards. You will not be able to use the DSS glitch.
“Break Iron Maidens”: Break Iron Maidens from the beginning of the game. You will not be required to press the button.
“Required Last Keys”: Set number of Last Keys required to open the door to the Ceremonial Room.
“Available Last Keys”: Set number of Last Keys to be placed on pedestals.
“Do Not Randomize Items”: Disable item randomization. Enemies will drop their default items.
“Random Item Hardmode”: Random item hard mode. Enemies below 150 HP will drop poor items. Any rare items assigned to bosses or candles are exclusive to them.

Optional balance changes:
“Buff Ranged Familiars”: Doubles the damage dealt by projectiles fired by familiars.
“Buff SubWeapons”: Increase regular and Shooter mode damage for some subweapons and corresponding item crush attacks (see readme for exact changes).
“Buff Shooter Strength”: Increase the Shooter mode base strength and strength per level to match Vampirekiller.
“Always Allow Speed Dash”: Allow activating Pluto + Griffin (increased speed) even when the cards are not obtained.
“Halve DSS Cards Placed”: Halve the number of placed DSS cards. You will not be able to obtain all DSS cards. Cards could randomly be skewed to action or attribute.

Well this is all really rad. Totally going to be getting this. I take it this mod works with any and all of the modes, fighter, thief and such?

In general, it is a way to patch any of the roms with any hack you want. In particular, you can do it with the Cotm randomizer, but there is also an Aria of Sorrow randomizer.

I have been having a blast with this one. I don't know the map of circle of the moon as well as, say, Super Metroid (Not even close) so I've been stuck in places but I learned a lot of weird stuff, basically the summon "teleport-clip" glitch (I already knew that one) and the skeleton antigravity, and I noticed that besides entering the waterway that way, you can also exit it that way from the save room (only that you usually don't need to since you get the roc wing).

Furthermore I used the option to default running so it also feels a lot more fluid.

I failed to get Camilla's drop, though, when she talked after defeated, that shiny armor she dropped just disappeared lol

Glad to hear it! Probably the biggest challenge is knowing all the hidden rooms and ice/stone spots (especially the really miscellaneous ones) without needing to look at the map. Bonefloating definitely isn't necessary, but good job learning that since it isn't easy at all (and it's always fun to sequence break). Updated with current optional rules. Beta 1.3 is now out either using the patcher or the website.

Does this mean DSS cards too? Or is this just randomizing gear and health pickups, etc?

Correct, that doesn't include DSS cards.
