This or emulation?
If its a decent collection I don't mind forking over the money in the hopes konami ports more classic castlevania games but if its trash tell me.

I don't care about bad kb+m supports since I just play with xbone controller.

I had a brainfart. I meant konami

The collection is pretty neat in my experience. The only problem is that it has no PC-specific settings outside of limited keyboard support.

This collection IS emulation.

So basically you're paying for legal emulation.

Fans have made some very nice mods for use with freeware emulation. Aria of Sorrow doesn't really need them, but the other GBA games benefit greatly from visual enhancements (make HoD less garish) and quality of life improvements (CotM without double-tapping all the damn time). Unless this version gets mod support, I don't think the widgets really compare.

Yeah, I agree with you. I brought the game and tried a CRT reshader, looked nice more like when I run it in RA but the originals have so much mod support plus I can play them on my android.

I ended up refunding this. Its not a bad collection but its not worth my time from what people have said.

The music is higher bitrate and the image quality looks better than emulator. Also has many features like language selection, the rewind mode, quicksave(its optional), etc.
If you like Aria of Sorrow definitely buy this. Sadly the other 2 games are only average and Dracula X is really bad

Well you are talking to someone who doesn't own the game so they don't know that this collection is not emulation.

It is emulation though. You can literally exctract the ROMs from the files (although with no sound).

Ehhh I just went with purchasing since I can apply a crt reshade and apparently you can enable GBA romhacks?

That's a pretty good deal for a remaster and maybe we'll get the DS collection.

I think it’s priced great for what it is. Dracula X sucks, I much prefer Rondo of Blood, that was super fun to play on PS4 in the collection with SotN. Dracula X in comparison just has such awful hit detection and fees so clunky and has far less interesting level design and no extras. But it’s nice to have access to that one anyway. (And props to anyone who bears Dracula without save states what a long tedious battle)

I’ve never played the GBA games but I’m enjoying it and other than not having a setting to keep it full screen and needing to go to my keyboard to do it, it’s got a lot of options to remap controls and stuff which is good since using circle for attack feels like garbage to me in Circle. But I am enjoying that one enough so far that justifies the price already personally. And I still have two more to go.

I have this games on original GBA, also i have on my New 3ds xl with injection.
This is a pretty decent port.

But just like the other collection, they need to add an option quit the game with the gamepad, right now you need to press ESC to exit.

Need a proper fullscreen option too instead of just alt+enter, never gonna get it though, not a chance.

Not only is this collection running through emulation, but the modding community has even figured out how to replace the roms with romhacks and other games entirely, though a friend of mine unlocked an achievement they shouldn't have while testing that out so that's something to be careful about if you care about unlocking achievements properly.

Yes that's the danger of messing with Steams games that have achievements, you may lock yourself from achievements.

I rather play the romhacks on Retroarch or somewhere that won't mess with achievements
Melodia Dec 4, 2021 @ 5:32pm
Uh the issue was that achivements were popping up when they shouldn't have, not that you were locking yourself out of them.
