Luck Stat PSA
Thought I'd post this for anyone who needs to know how the Luck stat works. Many would assume an increase in Item Drop Rate or Critical Hits, but that's a misleading assumption in HoD and AoS.

In Harmony of Dissonance, Luck only increases the chance of the Rare Ghost enemy appearing. Every time you enter a valid room on a frame number divisible by 4, the game rolls a 1/64 spawn chance. For every 10 points of Luck after 70, it increases the chance by an additional 1/64. All item drops are on a scale out of 1024 where each type of enemy has its own set point values for each of its drops (so every Gold Medusa Head, for example, will have identical drop point values). The Rare Ring increases Common drop values by 32 points and Rare drop values by 16 points.

In Aria of Sorrow, the formula for Luck is so borked that you would need thousands of points of Luck to bump the drop rate up by the tiniest fraction of a percentage. That said, the Rare Ring and Soul Eater Ring work outside of the Luck stat for Rare Item and Soul drops, respectively. In a fresh first playthrough going for 100% Map, Items, and Souls without any thought of level grinding or rewind scumming, I ended up at Level 96 before I had collected everything possible.

I just brute forced it and grinded for the last souls at level 99.
Edit: while having the soul eater ring equipped of course.

I heard about Luck being broken in Dawn, but it's broken in the exact same way in Aria too? Damn. Makes Ghost Dancer and Gremlin souls completely worthless doesn't it. I wonder why they made the exact same error two games in a row?

Also, I had no idea luck was worthless in Harmony too. Wow! What a weird and stupid game all around. I already hated the EXP scaling system in Harmony that makes levelling past Level 53 practically impossible. Now I've got another thing about the game's stat mechanics to be completely baffled by.

Circle of the Moon seems to be the only game where Luck actually works, and this can be clearly seen in Thief Mode. I always loved how straightforward and to-the-point Circle is, and its stats system is also indicative of this.

By any chance, do you know how Luck works in Symphony, Curse, Portrait and Ecclesia as well? And Lament, too, I guess? (even though the stats in Lament are already pretty meaningless since there's so few items and no such thing as EXP...)

Its no "error" or "bug" its just the way how game is.
Most you can do is apply mod patch (you could if you extract rom file and put it back in game with fan patch)

That surprised me. From my own observations I would swear that luck also affects the crit chance in HoD. So it must have been a placebo and nothing more.
