When the platform moves to one of the pillars, the lights match a direction of the D-Pad. Right dot? Press Right, etc etc.

I pressed the dot where ever it popped up but it always destroyed the platform.

There is a matter of timing to this, and it gets stricter with each success. It took me 3 or 4 tries at the last one to actually get it right.

This. Very much this. I never have issues with the puzzle until that last one. Always gets me a half-dozen-or-so times before I get it. The timing is rather tight. Fortunately, the Collection's rewind function is a thing that can help.
