PC Crash Workaround (Hot Wheels Expedition)

Hi all,

We’re aware of a crash to desktop on the PC version of Forza Horizon 5 in certain locations including the Hot Wheels Expedition. This occurs if the “Shader Quality” is set to Ultra or higher while the “Environment Texture Quality” is High or below.

As we develop a fix for this incompatibility, we recommend ensuring that “Shader Quality” is Ultra or Extreme, only if “Environment Texture Quality” is also set to Ultra or Extreme.

the game wont even start in steam since the new update. and verifing the files of the game wont work either.

Same. I can't even start game since last update. It longs up to 4 days and I'm not sure that developers can solve this problem as fast as they can. I also created a ticket on FH5 Support - and they gave me a link to article "Forza Horizon 5 Known issues". Well. thanks a lot

I've gotten a few crashes while playing in the hot wheels map. For me though I crash more while in mexico. Game crashed right as a was going on a danger sign jump. And I have those two graphical settings at ultra

I play at the time only in Mexico. today i can not more play. game crash sometimes at game start and sometimes after i go out from my home or at start the Race.
Graphic option is on Ultra. I tested with High/Ultra/Extreme. not difference. game still freez with all setting.
I have this problem after HW update :(

Did your team know about issue, when some users can't launch FH5 (without oportunity to lower their graphic settings). It crashes even before loading screen.

Well, I just wanted to try out my new headset, but I crash during the loading screen after the main menu.

I get random crashes, but never at launch, no matter what the settings are. Maxxed out, all Low, all sorts of in betweens, it's reliably crashing about every 20 minutes or so, your fix...doesn't.

the wording is a bit confusing. Just make sure your shader quality matches the environment texture quality. (high/high works fine and still looks amazing) Can confirm this solves that "first corner" crash and other crashes on the exact same spot.

Yeah, i got past the expedition just to crash at the end of the first race EVERY SINGLE TIME. Absolutely unacceptable!

same here .....after i started hot wheel update the game crash at the main menu ....really thx

Tonight in 1.5 hours I've had 4 crashes.

1: Crashed on loading in to a race
2: Crashed when I was being given the next series of class races in the Hot Wheels map
3: Crashed looking at cars in the shop
4: Crashed generally driving around

I set my settings to High in the preset and it didn't seem to help. I have a 3700x and a 3080ti and nothing is over heating, latest drivers etc

I've changed the settings and I'm still experiencing ctd.
Today I've crashed when traveling from the Hot Wheels map to the Mexico map. I've crashed at the beginning of a race, after the race (loading back into freeroam), and in the middle of a race. Most of the crashes occur in Mexico. Probably about 10 crashes today. 3080 video card, i9-11900k.

Hi FH5 Devoloper,
can you please disable Hot Wheels and give us last Version ? I dont want play HW. I want only play my game in Mexico without crash and freez.
