Cornering
Hello Everyone, all my life ive been playing aggressive style racing like NFS and GTA type kind of games until now. Im having trouble turning in a corner cause I always hit walls or skid, miss checkpoints and i cant seem to win races unlike to other games where i simply enter drift mode and im good in that corner. Any tips anyone? It would be really helpful.

Thank You

In this game you actually need to brake before the curve and accelerate back out ofg the curve apex. Use the racing line to start with, it makes knowing when and where to brake way easier at first.

dont brake and steer.

Set driving line to braking only from difficulty options in settings.
When you race and see that the line is red, brake until it becomes yellow.
Don't brake and turn at the same time.
Slow in, fast out. Drift bad, grip good.

oh and this only applies to road racing
on offroad it's a different story and drifting is unavoidable

Those indicators don't tell you to hit brakes while cornering, they just tell show where to cut corners and how fast to go.

I have a really good S1 street car...

Get yourself a Porsche 911 Carrera 2019
Search for a tune called: 'S1 grip race AWD' by a creator called Metallicami

It doesn't have the best acceleration but it's got a high top end, really well balanced and the brakes are insane so you can brake a lot later into corners, which gives a huge advantage.

It's AWD also which might help you as it's less skiddy in the corners.

Do you even know how car works? You see a corner, you break BEFORE you enter the corner, then you release break and you turn, then when you EXIT the corner you accelerate. 101 driving

Another typical beginner's mistake is the "all or nothing" approach when it comes to brakes and throttle. Try to ease into it, don't let go off the throttle, hit the brakes full power and steer into the corner - you'll fly off the road (as you probably know).
You have to experiment a little in freeroam, try out how a car goes into the corner when you maintain 40% throttle while braking, or how it acts when you give just 60% throttle instead of going leadfoot when you have passed an apex.

Also, in contrast to pure arcade games, weight distribution and drivetrain actually affect your car's behavior significantly. There are youtube videos about this, easier to point you in that direction that write a whole almanac about it here.

Using manual transmission is amazing for this. Even with controller it gives so much more depth. Downshifting before a corner and braking with the engine, rather than just braking and accelerating. Also great for drifting. The handbrake is very useful too. But I'm a noob at this game so...

^This. Also follow the basic Out-In-Out technique, start wide - hit the apex on the inside - and accelerate wide. The point at which you start braking/acceling will vary depending on your car/tune. If you're trailing an opponent and you see that he/she is braking late and taking corners wide it sometimes pays off to brake a bit early so you can zoom past them from the inside. Generally speaking though slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

Something I haven't seen mentioned is not pressing the brake all the way down. Even if you have ABS on, it will take longer to slow down your car. If you press it gently, the car slows down much faster. You can feel the correct point when the trigger starts to vibrate.
