It feels so empty and the players act strange
I am new to forza. I love this game and i have no regrets buying it on the sale and i put 55 hours into it already in less then a week, usually after work i hop on and just drive around to relieve stress and it does an absolutely great job. But on multiplayer im having an issue with lack of players, i see nobody for miles on end. And when i do, maybe hit them up to carve the canyons or even race and have fun... I try and socialize but they instantly try to avoid you or go straight into menu to hide with is rather odd. And this goes for 95% of players, even when im on the stretch of highway, im going max speed and about to pass a player and boom they instantly hide in the menu the moment i get near.

Wtf is going on or are these players really bots or are people so socially anxious that minor interaction in a ONLINE setting scares them? Its actually ruining my experience in some way and also steam says theres thousands of players online but when i play, i encounter maybe 5-7 people in a session.

Hahaha 2,000 hours here and yeah man I gotta agree. The lobby system is frustrating. There are essentially these waiting rooms for events, and that's the various maps. The "menu hiding" thing really is annoying. Always seems to happen right as you get close. Occasionally I get to drive with someone for 30+ mins of close racing, and then the lobby will "refresh," wiping the players. Of course you won't remember their username and you weren't in convoy. A lot of the time people are really just doing the gameplay loop. Event>customize>wait/bs>event>customize>update>repeat. Most drivers on the map aren't just hanging out, they are on a mission like accolade hunting or the seasonals. The game doesn't particularly demand intense concentration for a long period, so people are noncommittal, often tabbing out/minimizing or going on their phone while their open race is waiting to start. If you are really interested in coordinated rallys, meets etc, I recommend hitting up the Forza forums or GT share threads here. There are weekly if not nightly events on discord. :FH5Kudos:
Open world racing/convoys has always been a bit rubbish - if you want multiplayer, do a tour race or open racing, or Co-op racing in the weekly championships.

Not really rubbish. If you want to play single player, go play single player.. I see no reason to play online if you wont participate in online activities or even some socialization.

If anything, this is a positive. I only go online to avoid the constant bots. Online, roads are way more peaceful.

Though one thing I absolutely hate is when a player starts following you, honking, and spamming "Convoy?" I either pause the game until they leave, or teleport somewhere else.

Most people are not like that, you don't own the road dude and you don't have to make it extremely awkward for both parties by going into the pause menu because you are social inept, just slow down and pull over and let the person pass. Unless there is legitimate harassment like you mention involved then i understand. I have yet to meet someone who pulls up to me and spam honks and harasses me and that's coming from a new player who you'd expect to receive the most bullying and harassment, But there are more people like you where they just go and hide and act mad weird instead of cool players that just want to cruise and vibe on the road, the way people act in that regard gives a very UNFRIENDLY attitude even if its not intentional but it is what it is. Even if its just a short and friendly interaction and we move on after.... it is greatly appreciated for someone like me. Who uses online multiplayer games to fill the social void. Especially when it comes to being a car enthusiast like me.

I think people just want to justify their social awkwardness and anxiety by making up in their head that everyone around them is a bully or an enemy. And i see it a lot, not only on social media but youtube and even ONLINE video games which is the most shocking thing. Victim mentality.

My link is legit "Cool car" "Oh shiny" not harassment BS as you mentioned and they go into menu to hide and its obvious when they do, its freaking weird. And honestly it kind of offends me because it makes me feel like crap and like i did something wrong but whatever.

oh I always race against other people co-op, it's boring otherwise... but only in tour/open/seasonal championships etc.

After you've completed most of the single player stuff, there's not much point just cruising around the map... I usually just teleport into actual races.

Okay? It's my game and I can play it how I want? And I do own the roads in my game. Just like you do from your end. It's not a communal map where people have to abide to some code, unless you choose to play a mode that requires to do so.

We can't even interact unless we choose to. I'm in my 40's and I have zero interest on interacting with obnoxious children, who make the majority of the playerbase. I'm allowed to enjoy the game I paid for however the hell I like, just like you and every player can.

Just chill man! It's not so deep.

And there are plenty of people around who will accept your convoy invite. Just stay near the places where people spawn. Like at Horizon Festival, or the mountain road. Add them to your friends list, and there you go!

Doesn't change the fact that it's weird ass behavior but whatever you do you. Mr 40 year old

And here you go, being a bully. How ironic. Get a grip dude I think you should maybe put the game down if it's upsetting you this much.

It's weird going into a forum and complaining that people ignore you in a freeroam game, or that they don't conform to your social perceptions. But hey, at least you're getting attention now.

Why don't you open a thread requesting for friends to play with? People do it all the time here and it does seem to work.

its same for me i have more than 3,000 hours.
i mostly put it on solo mode than horizon life.
The bots is better than some random players

should be forums around here, did it alot with fh4, drift lobbies, rally sim, drag racing etc. its where you will find people who want to do the same as you. this game spawns everyone in online mode and also dealing with ghosts are alot more fun than having a skill streak being broken by AI, also unlike previous games this one only shows people near you, not everyone in the game, jump into fh4 and you will see everyone that is online on the map

Forza horizon 4 had everyone racing all day long on the highway, had like 8 cars lined up each time would go for hours with randoms just switching builds and racing. I just got FH5 loaded it up, customized my character. Made sure to put my hearing aids on my character and a prosthetic arm because that is going to make me feel included. Yet i haven't seen anyone racing together anywhere. It is empty and my hearing aids haven't been put to use yet. It really is just a ♥♥♥♥ empty game. Cars are ass too, can't even fly them and it's 2025.
The problem is that now you can't see where anyone beyond a large circle around you is. In FH4 you could be in the far reaches of the map but see that couple people are grouped around the highway, so you'd go there and join them.

It's like GTA5, game isn't designed to meet other people or to have fun with them...
Use gamebar to add people that looks interesting, then you can socialize.
Everything else is just trolling and honk...
I don't really care about the other people on freeroam, but I think it's pretty sad how nobody ever participates in the pink circle events. I've once seen someone else on one I was doing, and I've played for almost an year. In 4 (even a year ago) you would constantly get at least two other people in them.
