If you have something like cheatengine on your PC, even if it's not running, you can get this.

WRONG, cheat engine must be running and be HOOKED into the game, since it does NOT have a Outside running anti cheat!

To Dible: have you bought any cars recently from the market place?

In some rare cases you can buy cars that are not released yet and modders sell them in the auction house, if you BUY a modded car you can get banned. Absolutley dumb IMO

Game detects cheat engine during launch, even if it is in the background and turned off. As a result, game may be crashed or you can get banned immediately.

Game won't detect CE if it's not turned on, because of it's not turned on, it's not in RAM. BUT, OP might have it set to launch on start, or minimized to tray.
It's also issue with WeMod, you close it, but by default settings instead it minimizes self to tray, and can be still detected by anti-cheat software.

With software like this, I would not trust anything short of killing process via task manager.

I meant if the cheating engine is running in the background but turned off, it is detectable. Also nvidia app could be false detected if you change settings during the game "outside of the game"

we mod and cheat engine are off no need to use them for this type of game. bought a few cars in the auction house maybe that caused it. I did some farming with the blueprints but that was all, nothing modded or cheated. appreciated all your comments on this though

You may had some random ♥♥♥♥ running in the background or you got a hacked in car gifted to you
that's enough to be warned if you change settings in nvidia app, since anti cheat could think you mod smth during a game. I know a lot of triggers like that.
Yep, the anti-cheat Forza uses is utterly useless, not only can it not actually pick up cheats, it false flags a ridiculous number of programs that aren`t cheats. In my personal experience they have flagged up G-hub the logitech software that ships with logitech controllers, the Razer Wolverine controller App, Chroma, Excel, Nvidia experience, Firefox and the X56 HOTAS profiler that ships with X56 Rhino joystick.
Or you just got reported, they don`t and I suspect can`t check to see if you are modding or cheating so they issue the warning...ask the vinyl creators why almost all of them have stopped making them over THAT little issue.
What part of the game made you think you were dealing with a competent developer?

Buying a modded car doesn't get you a warning or a ban as far as I know. Only those who distribute cars that should not yet be obtainable get banned.

if unobtainable car is in your garage you'll be banned 100% trust me.

No, that is incorrect.
If that were the case, people could get unobtainable cars and gift them to unaware players (new players), leading to them getting banned.

Also, there's this post on reddit, and one of the comments says that buying an unreleased car (or getting one gifted to you) will not lead to you getting banned.

No you can't.

It was clarified earlier this year by PGG that if you receive a Hacked/Modded Cars via a Gift or Purchase it on the Auction House then you won't be punished.

I recommend taking a screenshot of the Listing/Gift Message showing the original Owners Gamertag just in case but you won't be in any trouble since you weren't the one responsible for the Hacking/Modding in the first place.
