Exactly. Regardless what your reason is. The refund rules are. 2 hours within 2 weeks. Any more hours and/or days and you can't refund.

Performance issues. Won't matter. Steam support doesnt care about your circumstances. You can still try tho but given by my experience. They won't refund the game.

There are rules so nobody can exploit the hell out of that system. You aren't an exception to be blunt with you.

You have a PC with good enough spec to run it? If so try cleaning RAM and Cache

Lag is always mostly memory full of crap RAM and VRAM or bad connection to game server

Request the refund via the support menu. they might do it anyway.

I got a refund after playing a game for more than 2 hours once (was an action RPG with a very long tutorial and intro phase) - I told the support how it was and they refunded it. That being said, twelve hourse is a lot more, and should you be beyond the 2 weeks, well, that's on you and the chances are basically non-existent. But an attempt won't hurt you, will it?

They do small exceptions if you use the support and not the automated refund process. But 12 hours and after more than 2 weeks. No way in hell they do that.

They probably would do it with something like 2 1/2 h and 15 days. With some good reason. But since thats not the case. Nop.

That's incorrect. The 2hrs/2weeks is the gratis refund window. Anything beyond that is approached based on circumstance

I've gotten multiple on games based on technical issues. Combination of not getting achievements beyond the tutorial completion or first level completion, with detailed explanation of what kind of crashes/unplayable glitches I'm encountering. I'd suspect the more common the issues that game has, the greater the odds of success, but it's also a good idea to not exceed both allowances before asking for the refund. They may also be more reluctant to refund purchases made using credit cards, for quite a few reasons.

That said, issues resulting from you having hardware too weak to run the game aren't liable to get you anything past the gratis window. That would fall in the category of 'your own fault'.

Thats exactly why I followed up with my recent post here. The important context here is.

12 hours. No way around it. Dont give the dude hope when his case isn't even in the exception window anymore.

Everyone could do that then. Hey.. I played for 20 hours but suddenly the game doesnt work .. refund give me.

I refunded a game with over 100+ hours and months later due to a windows update breaking a game that was abandoned by the devs so it would never be fixed. If the game just doesn't work you have a much better chance of refunding after the window.
Let they guy try. It wont cost him anything.
