xBox 360 controller not working in FH5 since Update

Forza Horizon 5 installed an update on Wednesday, the day before the new season dropped and ever since, my wired xBox 360 controller does not work in Forza Horizon 5. None of the buttons work whatsoever. I cannot even get out of the menu.

On Thursday, the game would not even run and just today I FINALLY got the game running—only to find that the xBox 360 controller is STILL NOT working in game.

I tested the controller in other games, including other Steam games and the xBox 360 controller works in every other game, just not Forza Horizon 5.

A Google search told me to plug the controller directly into the PC and not use a hub but the thing is the controller IS plugged DIRECTLY into the PC yet it STILL WILL NOT work in game.

I restarted the game and PC MULTIPLE times but the controller still does not work in Forza Horizon 5 but continues to work in every other game.

I posted about this issue at several different Forza Horizon 5 communities but I neglected to get any kind of response whatsoever. I did not even get any me toos or likes or anything.

I decided to try here.

Is anybody else having this issue? Does anybody know of a fix?

EDIT: I just tried a PS4 controller, a second xBox 360 controller, AND an XBox One X controller and none of those are working in Forza Horizon 5 either. All three of those work in every other game.

I play normally on XB1 controller, and my original X360 controller works too.
Check if game doesn't try to force different controller than what you plug in. Some people complained that game stopped accepting keyboard inputs, turn out they had wheel steering enabled despite not having it plugged. Maybe it's something like that.
Issues can be also caused by steam overlay, or xbox controler app.

Someone told me in another post to sign out of xbox account in the initial start menu ingame, let the game restart and then log in again. And it worked, only thing is that i have to do it every time i start the game. Just a workaround until they fix it. Hope it works for you too.

Does anybody have any other solutions? Neither reply worked. I DO NOT have an option to change the input in settings so the first reply is not it

and logging out and logging back in did not work! No controllers are working STILL!

I am going to miss the ENTIRE season if this is not fixed

try using them with ds4windows as it overrides steam and makes ps4 and xbox controllers work

It might help to try disabling steam input by right clicking on the game and clicking properties in steam, going to controller tab and then using the drop down box to disable the steam controller emulation.

This has caused issues with other controllers in the past (such as impulse triggers not working in FH5). FH5 has native built in support for xbox controllers and does not require steam input or other types of external controller emulation software (such as ds4windows) and they should always be disabled for this game.

Disabling Steam input did NOT fix the issue either! :( Controllers still do not work in Forza Horizon 5! I am at wits end here! I am about to miss an ENTIRE season! This issue caused me to only 99% last series making it the first time in several months that I have not 100%ed an entire series.

Anybody else have any other ideas?

Having the same issue. Neither the ps5 nor the Xbox are working. The both work in forza 4 and eveey other game

log out of your account in game and it will automatically restart. then sign back in. it will work but youll have to do it every time you play. ive posted in other threads and its worked for everyone.

Occasionally with 360 wireless controller will have to redo the driver. So go to device manager, right click 360 reciever or whatever, update driver.
Pick from list, (if need to untick show compatable then do so) will show more drivers after untick. Then make sure u click one that says it's digitally signed. Will have Bold black writing up top to say that.

i have the same problem but with the ps4 controller. Tried every method from reddit,yt and uninstalling and redownload but the issue still there. I made a ticket for forza support 5 days ago but haven't got a reply yet

ds4windows makes all the controllers work on any game, you should give it a try
