I have played FH5 for round about 80 hours and had no issue with it. No single crash or controller disconnects. Compared to FH4 Steam version this is a huge improvement where I had no multi USB support and hourly game freezes when using my steering wheel.
I never got the game to work with a single device. I've tried racing wheels, pedals, shifters, handbrakes, button boxes, and even a HOTAS. Any input, button or axis, from any peripheral device causes a full screen overlay error message saying Controller Disconnected. The devices never disconnect. The car responds to them fine behind the translucent error message. The game simply won't let me play with any of them.
There are lots of hokey workarounds floating around out there that work to varying degrees (Hold Enter then unplug your keyboard - it keeps the message away, but you don't have FFB).
I have seen nothing official about the issue other than the Known Issues list, and it's not correctly listed there. It states that users with specific wheels may experience disconnects. It's not limited to those wheel or even just wheels themselves, and there are no actual disconnects happening.
I was able to determine those facts well within the refund window, so they have probably not even looked at the issue. They are dealing with more widespread, severe issues like not being able to log in, getting disconnected, crashing, the game lagging and breaking your combos, etc., etc.
I have been waiting, but it looks like a refund is inevitable. I will not be returning to this franchise.
I have a podium/dd2 with heusinkveld sprint pedals and while the game does detect it and even displays it correctly in the settings, I have to switch off from PC mode on the wheel or i'll keep getting the disconnect device message.
in the control/settings, pre-select the wheel profile i wanted to use and then went in and changed the accelerate, brake and clutch to my pedals axis and the game saved it as a custom wheel profile. however, each time you launch the game, it forgets which wheel profile is selected so i have to select the profile in the settings each time the game is loaded or it will switch back to the default profile.
that said, i still have random crashing issue, but it works for the most part in terms of multiple peripherals is concerned.
I genuinely appreciate your help, but I've done as much troubleshooting as I'm going to do within the refund window.
I understand that there are options like Forza Emuwheel, but I paid $100 for a piece of software that had advertised features. When those features don't work, I won't install some shadeware from unknown sources with no accountability to get them to work.
The developer of the software has made it their routine to ignore broken features despite widespread outcry. They do not deserve your money, and the gaming industry is only going to get worse while people continue to enable anti-consumer behaviors by funding them.
Not another dime.
- Logitech G920 steering wheel
- Fanatec Elite pedals

- Custom Shifter (self-made)
