EDIT: Its gotta be a game, server or network issue. blaming the hard drive that isnt even being accessed during the long load loop isnt getting anywhere
Taking 5-6 minutes to load seems like your blowing the issue out of proportion. Your responses also contradicts your own post. Why come here to ask for suggestions on what the issue could be, if you are not even going to bother to try what some have suggested?
You state you played the game without issue for a year. Why suddenly would it be the games problem? Sounds more like a problem with your own setup. If you are using a standard HDD, it may simply be, your HD is "Full" or fragmented. It could be a memory issue also. Who knows? What's the point to offer any suggestion because you are just going to disagree and seem to have all the answers and your mind made up already? So why bother trying to help you?
You also gave very little information on your setup. None actually. So we are also supposed to read your mind?
I didnt play for awhile so i moved it off my ssd and forgot and had this exact issue. moving it back to ssd solved it

From clicking start in steam, to being able to drive a car in the open world...
1min 24 seconds ( I measured it with the stop watch on my mobile phone so +/- a second or two for margin of error, but its pretty bang on.)
I agree with the above, you should install the game on an SSD, make sure it's fully up to date etc, and then time it again.
** caviat - I closed my web browser and any other apps to free up memory/cpu before taking this measurement.
You are probably one of the reasons for the long "Fast traveling other players" nonsense.
