EV cars gearbox
First since for no good reason EVs are a sensitve subject for some
I want to point out my first prefernce of a car is a 4 on the floor V8..
That said i dont mind the EVs, what bothers me and also would make this game so much more fun is manual gearboxes for EVs.
if i can put a 8 speed in my 1932 ford why not in my EV?
I know modern Evs in stock dont have manual gearboxes but old Evs did so not that strange of an concept to make this customable in this game
Id love a 6 speed manual RWD EV car. sound might be off but could still be fun asf

It's not that simple. Since electric motors are directly connected to the wheels. They modulate their own speed. And since full torque is available from 0 rpm, you really don't need a gearbox. It's really as fast as the motor can spin.

Sure, there are exceptions. Some EV's have a separate final ratio, for either extra torque, or for launching.

Toyota is developing a manual for their EV's, however, gears are all simulated. Google Toyota manual EV.

I'm oldschool too. I like my ICE engines and manual transmissions. But EV's are growing on me, at least in the game. They can be fun. A few of them with the right tune, can be ridiculous fast on a drag race. But that's where it ends.

Not all are directly connected do i even dare to say most are not?
but conneceted to a manual gearbox as i wish for is ofc far away but if one goes for
older electric cars not that far away
!960s Renault was 4 speed manual all electric
Im not super up to date with the latest but the Volvo C30 Electric was connected to the standard auto trans. Not saying im an expert on the subject just wishing for a resonable debatte and manual EV cars added to FH5 :)
Modern diesel/petrol cars are the same fnucking space ships as an EV give me the VOLVO 240!! back ;)

Husky said it. Bottom like is there is no functional reason to have it and it would just add weight and reduce acceleration. If the devs were to put it in the game, it would be a negative PI because it would hurt performance in ever day. IRL you increase the cost, add another point of failure, introduce more frictional losses and ultimately reduce range, probably by a significant amount.

And that's why we drive ICEs, IRL and in game. More fun. In every way. And better for the environment too, actually.
Some of the EVs have a couple of gears, but yeah - linear acceleration and wide efficient power band means no need to chase the narrow power band of an ICE with a gearbox.

Just not as much fun to race.

ICE have gears because they need them if you want to reach higher speeds without reving the engine beyond its safe range. Gears are kind of a 'fix' for the drawback of an ICE.

Yes, it's fun working through the gears and using the engine to slow the car down (downshifting). I have owned more manual transmission vehicles than auto.

Modern EVs don't require multiple gears to get all the power from them. The Porsche Taycan does have a 2spd; however. Instant torque off the line and no gear changes makes it more efficient and better performance (generally).

ICE-V conversions to EV generally keep the original transmission because otherwise, some custom engineering would be required that makes conversions extremely expensive.

So while your driving an EV in Forza, if they programmed the vehicle simulation properly, when you lift the accelerator, it should slow down quickly as if you were downshifting. It's not 100% the same, but similar.

It's just the characteristic of the technology.

Yes, Forza could setup the EVs to have a manual transmission, but then that wouldn't be very accurate.

It's a different style of driving, like FWD, RWD, or AWD are all a bit different as you have to learn how drive them properly.

As said Ev's don't need a gear box at all, think of it a bit like driving a Tamya RC car.
