Unfortunately not, well not officially anyway. You'll start from scratch.
I believe there are ways some have got it to work but that's at your own risk.

the issue with game pass, and why I don't use it, is your'e only really 'renting' the game, and at some point you wont have it anymore if it's deleted from game pass.

I can see the appeal in some ways, but it's not for me.

It's a good platform to try out a game you are on the fence about getting. Like when I used to rent games from Blockbuster video back in the day :D

As for the topic, as others have said. game pass and steam progress are separated. There are ways to manually transfer save files over but it's not officially supported so it's up to you if you want the risk of your game borking.

you can, but always only with the ms store version, and you only need to pay once.

you mean between xbox and PC, when you own the game on the same platform, yes.
This is MS store <-> Steam = not possible unless you attempt the above save file extraction to place it somewhere it generates with Steam etc.

I have the Game Pass edition on PC (which also works on Xbox, which I don't own). I have most of my games in Steam, but have progress on the Game Pass version and wanted to know if the save would work on the Steam version.

With that said, I did some more research after posting here and it's obvious that the Game Pass version has a different saving method and it's not the same. There are hacky ways to solve this, but I couldn't be arsed with that. So will still with the Game Pass one.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I red about your issue, i almost have the same kind of problem..
I purchased Forza Horizon 5 on Steam where i already have started a little bit of progression..
I recently became a member of the (Xbox) Game Pass Ultimate.. But with the game progression where i like to proceed on the Xbox can't i play further.. because i have to start all over and lost my whole progression, with the same username..

Both accounts are linked at the same email adress..

Isn't it possible to play with the same account and same progression on both?
