Which version of the game should I get?
Planning to grab it while it's on sale, I already played it before on Gamepass but that ran out a while ago, anyway, I'm planning to buy it and I was wondering whether it's worth getting the Deluxe/Premium over the standard? I mean I looked it up on a few places, but all the results or videos seem old, so I'm wondering whether getting the other version has any value.

If you're wanting to collect all the cars and own the 'Hotwheels' and 'Badlands' dlc content you will need to go 'Premium'.

If that doesn't interest you and you just want to race and drive +/- 700 of the 800 cars available in the game, standard is all you would need. There's plenty to keep you busy for 100's of hours in the base game alone.

If you're wanting all the games content and you buy 'Premium', you would still be short the following Car dlc Packs which you would need to purchase separately. Besides the Treasure Map, but that a stupid dlc very few if anyone buys.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2614920/Forza_Horizon_5_Super_Speed_Car_Pack/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2507010/Forza_Horizon_5_Italian_Exotics_Car_Pack/

Good luck with your decision!

Dude, believe me, don't buy this game. The actual map is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥: it is empty as ♥♥♥♥ and it takes 3 - 5 business days to get anywhere because the brain trust at Pgg made the map 1,5 times bigger compared to previous games, but forgot to add stuff to fill the extra space so the majority of the map is just a desert. The racing is afwul. Online you will always get rammed, because the game punishes the person that was rammed, not the rammer. offline you either play with "ai" that can only follow a single path which is piss easy, or play with "ai" that still follows the same path but has so many cheats that it is sometimes impossible to beat. There is no middleground. Also, the game introduces it's new cars exclusibely using seasons, which makes them available for a week only. if you missed it, better cough up 20 mil to get it. I went on a 2 week vacation once. To get the cars that I missed, I'd have to get 100 mil. In the 430 hours of playtime on this game, I got 330 mil credits in total. I'd have to grind for another 80 hours just to get half of the cars from 1 season that I missed, and there are 27 seasons.
And I saved the best for last, the ibright minds at Pgg decided that making you pay 100$ wasn't enough, so now they are gonna add half assed dlcs with filler cars every month that are NOT included in the premium edition of the game.
I'd recommend you buy this game only if you enjoy the process of entering your credit card info and the process of doing the same grindy ass tasks to afford a three wheeled tic tac that is completely useless yet costs 20 mil for some reason.

Oh and I forgot to mention that the "story" is 90% a cringe ass dialogue without a cutscene and a mission where you have to follow a specified route, except if you want to get 3 stars you'd always have to ignore the route and just go in a straight line.

Depends on the person. I'm fine with vanilla, no expansions.

Whatever gets you a Civic Mugen

You've already played the game and there are tons of you tube videos that allow you to take a peek at the expansions. It is hard to give you a recommendation without any quality information from your side.
In general, I'd say get the premium edition if you can see yourself playing it a lot. If your interest is rather casual or one (or both) of the expansions do not strike your interest, settle for less.

Me too, only about 6 months apart. I just got FH4 through the 'complete your bundle' option.

As to OP's question, Get Ultimate. At the current discount with the premium upgrade, the DLC expansions and a ton of good cars to start you off, it's the best way to jump in.

If it's on sale might as well go all in. If you enjoyed FH4 then FH5 will satisfy you. There's nothing groundbreaking about it, really should be titled Forza Horizon 4, Part 2. The "storyline" they give you is even a continuation of FH4.

Yeah this is the part that is of interest to me, does the premium edition come with all the expansions till date? Do I get any extra perk for buying premium, and what is that is I guess. When the game was initially released I understand the value it had over vanilla pack, but after 2 years or so, does the same value still apply?

Premium gives you something like 25% extra credits for race finishes. Just buy Ultimate, you get the 2 expansions, the car pass (23-ish cars), the welcome pack (another 8ish cars) and some other car packs but not all of them. In all it was dozens of cars including the ones the game gives you. What you don't get is some of the newer car packs. You don't need them, I don't think I'll ever bother with them since there are so many other cool cars to drive. The only car I would pay for is the Supra GT 3.0 if they ever made that available.

I bought the premium edition now I'm stuck downloading 168 gigs of data that's gonna take approximately 20 hours to download... huzzah!
