Am i ok to run this game of HDD?
I have 2 NVME and one SSD drives - but they are pretty full at the moment i'm reluctant to uninstall some other titles to make way for Forza...... it's HUGE with the DLC.

Do i need an SSD drive for this or are others running off HDD just fine?

I think if you drive fast some textures wont load and you might get some crashing but this might been improved by so many patches but never guarantee

I've found it works fine from a 7200rpm HDD if you limit the game to 60 fps or less.

I've never tried it in an HDD, but it should be able to run just fine on a 7200rpm. It's a somewhat old title, made when SSD's weren't required.

Loading times aside, the game will work just fine

Thanks everyone!
i'll give it a go.

Worst case i'll move it over but damn 160gb is alot to give up.

It'll absolutely run on an HDD, the only downside will be load times. Loading up the game and logging in might take you a couple to a few minutes to load to your player house while SSD will do all that in less than a minute.

Load times asides it'll play the same regardless.

Funnily enough I just moved the game from my boot NVME drive to an SSD and there are noticeable slow downs when it has to load textures and can't keep up. It happens once in a while from the NVME but much more often on the SSD especially for the long road races where you go through different areas.

Will be less of an issue if you are running with a lower texture quality or limiting your frame rate. I'm running high quality textures and the game typically runs at around 130fps but I can tell when it's loading because the game slows to 70 and the game feels like it's stuttering a bit. It doesn't crash.

I think I'll move it back and then run Forza Motorsport from the SSD because it's probably not going to be loading as many different textures.

How much porn do you need? Kidding. Games do eat up space nowadays. If your platter drive is fast enough it should be fine. If it is one of those tops off at 100MBs drives then ssd at the minimum.
