Can't start the game.

I have recently fresh installed my Windows 11 due to having some issues before.

Now with a fresh install, the game won't launch at all. It will go to the warning loading screen, and then the game just closes and exit.

I have tried all Window's scanning tools and tried to reinstall the game/verify game integrity none of them worked.

Any pointers on possible fix?

are you the Administrator for your PC? if so go search type CMD click on Run As Administrator then type at the C: prompt
sfc /scannow

That will find and fix and corrupted or damaged windows files and may lead to /DISM which will replace any that cannot be fixed

@harpic1950, I am an administrator for the PC, and the command have been ran multiple times already, didnt seem to fix the issue.

I have the same issue.... as soon as i press continue the game just crashes and exits...
The interesting thing is that its the only game on steam i have that dosnt work

Found a working fix for me.
Clear Xbox Live Credentials

Clear all Xbox Live Credentials
Click the Start button in the lower left corner of Windows, type Credential Manager, and press Enter.
In Credential Manager, click on the "Windows Credentials" button.
Scroll down to Generic Credentials
Find all entries that start with "Xbl"
example "Xbl|Devicekey"
Select the expand button on the right of the entry
Select to "remove" the entries
Remove all entries that start with "Xbl"
Please note you may need to sign back into other applications due to this.

Yeah it did nothing for me, the game still behaves the same with "ForzaHorizon5.exe has stopped working"...

That's a fix for XBox Live login errors. It won't help with crashes unfortunately.

Game crashes for me if not installed on the C: drive. Known issue since the last update. Moved it to C: and it is working again. Not a great solution but a work around for the time being.

Well then it is a fun time when you have 162GB of free space on the C: drive....
Only thing installed is windows 11 on that drive, this game takes freakin 167GB of space which is insane.
Have they gone out with this being a known issue and a workaround is the game is needed to be on the C: drive?

I have mine installed on G:. The game needing to be on the C: drive seems like it might be a red herring notwithstanding Keivz success at getting his copy to work.

I have exactly the same issue - bought the game yesterday, downloaded and it crashes mid-intro... nothing i've tried suggested here helped me, only refund can save us :/

Yeah no i know it dosnt, but at this point im open to try anything. The last thing i wanna do is buy the game on microsoft store just because the developers cant fix their broken ♥♥♥♥...

Now have a fresh install of W11, nothing running except steam and Nvidia drivers, new SSD and everything installed on it. Still crashes as soon as "Welcome username" pops up in the bottom left.

Honestly getting a bit sick of this, but also because Playground Games cant release a statement or anything on this issue... 0 communication from them at all even though its a known issue in the community

Yeah I get what you mean I'd expect the game to work on a clean install of Windows.
Devs will comment on the odd foreign language post here telling them to create a support ticket, otherwise there is zero feedback from them on Steam.

They have a thread they keep updated for crashes but that's the only communication I've seen from them honestly. Sorry dude hope you find a fix.
