Mine crashes after I try to continue too. I click the start option, and the music catches for a second, and it silently returns to desktop.
I went through about 4 hours of Shoutingand advice:
1) I checked to see if it needs to be repaired in Steam (it does not)
2) Set it to run as Admin.
3) I've tried windows 7 Compatibility.
4) Reduced to minimum quality settings in 1080p using GeForce Experience.
5) I Updated GForce 3080 Drivers.
6) I ensured latest Windows Update was installed.
7) I uninstalled 10 C++ redistributable packages (2008-2023 version) and Reinstalled every single C++ Redistributable.
8) I changed my startup options and performed a clean boot.
9) I Reset Microsoft Store.
10) I Reset Xbox Live.
11) I Used the Microsoft Troubleshooting tool (no issues).
12) I actually reinstalled my AMD DRivers for 3600xt
13) I temporarily turned off Antivirus/Firewall
14) I even disabled Windows 11 Developer mode using powershell with this command:
Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
I have a GTX 3080 and Ryzen 5 3600xt. Short of uninstalling and reinstalling (165gb) I do not think there is anything else to do.
There is a hidden crash log. If I go to the %appdata% directory for Forza 5:
C:\users\[myprofile]\AppData\Local|ForzaHorizon5\ CrashReport.xml
The stated reasons are:
<REASON Value="The game requested to open the web browser, but neither the system WebView2 runtime nor the included WebView2 runtime worked."/>
<REASON_INFO Value="0x0000000000000000"/>
<EXCEPTION Value="ACCESS_VIOLATION_WRITE"/>
Which is totally useless. It's been more than 14 days since my purchase, but after 4 hours of trouble shooting... I think I give up. I'll request a refund.
I had the same problem in 2021 on release of this game! Seems like a joke!
