And any time you're gonna be editing save files *always* make a back up or two before starting.
Haven't been ballsy enough to make the jump yet, but the "top answer" is consistent with a bunch of tutorials, guides, threads and videos about the topic. If / When I get FH5 on Steam, I'll update this thread with how it turns out!
I was thinking about using this app that they are saying in that Reddit link works for FH5:
https://github.com/Fr33dan/GPSaveConverter
Hmm, can't paste the correct link because they replace the guy's name with hearts, check the link there.
1: Install both the steam & gamepass version of the game. Launch both versions seperately so you create save files for both versions.
2: Download that software you linked (will link) - And then select Forza Horizon 5 on the side bar menu.
3: You then need to select "Non-Steam Game Save" location, this is at C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/userdata/STEAM_ID/1551360/
4: You then need to transfer two specific files in the Xbox Save tab, them being under the blob id section, ProfileData & VersionFlags.
5: You need to click the arrow pointing downwards on both files.
6: Now click "Explore Non-Xbox Files" and rename file user${Xbox User} on both transferred files to the User_XXXXXX < essentially changing the names of the xbox saves to your steam name & Viola!
It should work! And as everyone has mentioned, Liveries & Tunings aren't here but my Rank, Cars, Progress and everything else seems to be in tact! This is sick!
Nice, thanks for letting me know.
I wouldn't know of any bans, but I've been completely fine and it should work just fine. (played a few days ago!) I should preface though, do your research before doing it and seeing if anyone's gotten any penalties for it.
The best part is on starting the game for the first time, ALL the Steam achievements I qualify for, I got as soon as I hit "continue".
You love to see it.
My detailed steps:
1. Make sure the game as been launched on both platforms to create all relevant files.
2. Download and launch GPSaveconverter.
3. Select Forza Horizion 5 from the "Potential Xbox Packages"
4. Click "Explore non-Xbox Files"
5. Create a new 'backup' folder in here, and move all the files.
6. Back in GPSaveConverter In the "Xbox Save Files" window, move the ProfileData, TransactionLogFile, and VersionFlags files using the little '⌄' arrow.
7. "Explore non-Xbox Files" again, and verify/rename the files to be named with your UserID. (Example: User_90000A12B45.ProfileData)
- the goal is to name these exactly as the files that now live in the 'backup' folder.
Launch the game via Steam, and enjoy!
