I can't make the game crash...
I've tried everything people have suggested as well as all of the things that I see people having issues with (By recreating whatever is causing their game to crash) and nothing.

I know that there are some people who like to just blame the game, the devs, etc, without taking a serious look at their own pc's, and their software setups, etc, to make sure that everything there is stable and ok.

I get it, I get being frustrated, but just blindly blaming the devs and the game, and assuming that your pc is perfect and nothing could be wrong with it, will not resolve the issue, and the end result of that stubbornness, is not being able to enjoy and play the game, and worse case, having a potential issue lurking on your system that could affect other games without you knowing it.

What's the purpose of this post? I'm trying to collect info as to why people are having issues (especially if multiple people are having the same issues) and just trying to help see if I can find a way to fix them. I really like this game, it's fun, and other people should get to enjoy it too.

(I will be copy/pasting this to the Forza 4 forum too, since it's the same thing)

Not a bad idea! However, I've already tried sooooo many methods (all methods I could find over multiple hours, I think there's not much left to try at this point).

I've also had no crashes in over 1000 hours and friends I know haven't either. That said there isn't a day that goes by without multiple crash posts here.

Looking at Forza's official support page for the crashes, there's quite a lot that can potentially conflict with the game.

Good luck with your venture dude, if you get a fixes thread going here, you have my vote should you ever need it. >.O

Mine crashes now and then. But now it is crashing every time I try to complete the Donut series at the airfield. It starts to load and then just crashes.

Thanks for replying, and sorry all of you are having issues.

Right now, I'm still collection as much info as I can, about the various types of crashes as well as computer setups.

If possible and you wouldn't mind, if you could list your pc's CPU, GPU, RAM and Motherboard specs, manufacturer as well if possible. (trying to determine as well if perhaps it may be manufacturer related, or at least to rule it out.)

Also, If you could list the steps to how the crash takes place from launching the game, to see if maybe I can duplicate it? Much appreciated and thanks in advance for any info.

Yeah, I just don't get it yet, but I'm gonna keep trying to find out what I can, heck, I even just ran both 4&5 at the same time as a movie and some youtube videos and still nothing. :(

My specs (HP Victus Laptop):

GPU: Nvidia RTX 3050 Notebook
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5600H
RAM: 16GB
144 Hertz Monitor (don't think that matters much, but just to be safe)
Windows 11 22H2

Game crashes when starting up, even when I launch it as administrator. Doesn't matter if I start it on Steam, on the task bar or on the desktop, same problem across all three methods.
Problem: Splash screen opens for about 1-2 seconds, then it disappears and the game closes itself.

I can't run the game with Intel Arc A770 16GB. Well, I bought nVidia GeForce RTX 4070 12GB (GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 4070 Master 12G). It's not possible to run again. I tried reinstall the game, but it doesn't help me.

I have Intel i5-12400, 64GB DDR4 3200MHz, 2TB SSD, Windows 11 Pro 22H2. How can I start the game, please? I got only black screen and the game exit/crash back to the Windows afterthat.

We both seem to have the same (or a similar) problem and we both have Nvidia GPUs... Hmmmm, are the Nvidia GPUs the issue?

I have almost 300 hours on a Nvidia RTX 2060 super with a couple of random crashes, but that's it.

Ah, good to know! I'd be upset if I couldn't play the game because of what graphics card I have.

I have 355hrs in this game and have played it almost every day since buying it last year, and never had problems until this week. For whatever reason its started crashing to desktop after a few minutes of freeroam. Iv noticed that specifically when i enter my garage i get a crash. Iv tried most of the fixes on the website and not had any luck. I raised a ticket today on the website... so hopefully they can help. Just not sure why its only started happening now. Its the only game that gives me trouble. CPU runs at 100% almost all the time too.

CPU: Intel i5 9600K
GPU: MSI RTX GeForce 3050
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32gb
Motherboard: MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC

I only crash when switching to the rally DLC map.
Everywhere else the game is super stable.
But in the rally DLC map, it crashes just while driving around. It wasn't like that in the past, i mean i managed to do all the DLC content, but now it crashes.

The Donut crash was caused by the game not saving my previous car state for the story. I had a rental car and modified it. But it isn't in your garage per se. I did not finish the story that session and exited the game. When I returned it crashed every time I tried to load the last mission in the Donut story. To fix it I re-did the missions before it and then it worked. The game failed to remember my car and was likely loading a null car which caused it to crash. A bug for sure but one that has a workaround. Simpy go back to the prior missions and redo them. Thankfully the game allows us to do this otherwise the only fix would be a patch.

The game seems to be a bit sketchy concerning rental cars and the stories and can lose the car you were using and crash when you try to proceed in the story.

Iv noticed that specifically when i enter my garage i get a crash.
This sounds like the issue I had. Perhaps there is a corrupted car or a car with a bad state in your garage.

Can't even play the game for more than 15 mins at a time here.

Been through every single troubleshooting step, tried every Nvidia driver since 517.48 (pre-bug), reverted all overclocks, fully updated windows, updated BIOS and vBIOS, ran Memtest86, reinstalled the game multiple times (onto different drives each time), disabled RT, disabled DLDSR, etc.

Even put my old GTX 980 Ti back in in case my 2080 Ti was dying, but no change.

Every single time, after between 5 and 15 mins, the game crashes to the desktop without warning, no errors or warnings in event viewer, no freezing or stuttering before it happens, it just closes like someone pressed ALT+F4.

EDIT for info: Crashing happens regardless of activity, online, offline, freeroam, garage, customisation, nothing changes it.

Did happen rarely before, but that was due to the Nvidia driver bug.

After the latest update, it's constant, rendering the game completely unplayable.

Missed the weekly stuff for the first time since launch due to it.

My system is dust-free, well cooled and rock-solid. The ONLY recent change was the game's update.

Specs (overclocks listed, crashing happens with default speeds as well as underclocked speeds):

i7-7700k @5.0ghz core 4.7ghz uncore (72 hour P95 stable, 48 hour OCCT stable)

EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC Black (1955mhz, +500mhz VRAM)

Samsung 960 EVO 250GB M.2 Boot Drive

WD SN750 1TB M.2 Game Drive

Seagate Barracuda 6TB 7200rpm

Seagate Barracuda 14TB 7200rpm

WD Black 6TB 7200rpm
