No. These were just guys roleplaying. There are no cops.

There are liveries and car bodykits with lights and all so you can, like on these videos, roleplay as a cop.

There is no pursuit or fines or anything like that tho, Need for Speed does that if it is your thing.

Btw I hope nobody here actually paid 70 euro/dollars for unbound, now that Bread mentioned nfs.. I played through the story and some mp after that via ea pro and it's horrendous, even the 14,99 for the sub was to much for it. Car chases aren't fun and far to overused, dialogue cliches are dialed up to one billion percent, car handling is.. special .. coming from forza I didnt expect much but wow.

Sense of speed is purely made by camera tricks. For a game called need for speed.. the speed part there surely is lacking. the frostbite engine is pretty bad for racing games thats why they have to use weird gimmicky camera tricks. Everyone talks about the cartoon effects.. these are the only decent things there since I can see the creativity behind them, some designers did really good job with them. Other than that.. pure corporate early access game. With a super hefty grind in the mp to unlock pretty much anything.

You will lose for hours against maxed upgraded meta cars .. getting minimal cash to upgrade the garage to even be able to buy car parts to get better performance. It's just utterly meh.

Cant even buy the cars you want until completing super weird challenges.

Rivals remains the last kinda decent nfs (imho). So sad. The only good thing was that it made me appreciate forza more.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I knew I heard about it being bad with the story and most of the races being clearable in a laughably low amount of time but for 70€ and it's sounding worse than heat?

I may not speak much but I observe a lot of posts here and in a good couple of forums, not only have I heard mostly mixed/bad views on the new NFS game but hearing it from you as well, I respect your opinion and I'm happy I didn't let it entice me let alone did I also just not get swayed by the hype/presentation of the game to begin with, interesting to know it's only gotten worse

Need for Speed Carbon truly was where the franchise started going down hill

Need For Speed™ declining since 2006.

Well, I got curious after seeing mixed reactions. Thats why I only paid for the sub instead for the full game. After experiencing it for myself.. seeing the barebones story.. gameplay and content... I can't really believe that there are people actually paying so much money for that without getting at least slightly disappointed.

I mean.. nobody really plays nfs for the story tho. But when they shove in such a cringe fest, argh. Every single story before that is 100% better than unbounds.

It's 99% "Tell, don't show". Which is one of writing sins. They all keep saying how the main villian is such a bad, evil character that makes tons of money. But you never see him.

I gotta admit tho that driving was fun when it worked in the sp where you aren't really forced to exploit the ♥♥♥♥ out of the burst boost. Unfortunately the main focus of driving in that game is getting the burst boost from drifting, drafting and grip cornering. That makes mp races not really fun because you have to focus on getting lvl 3 boost all the time to even have a chance.

After losing 30~ races because I couldn't afford anything decent while everyone drove 400 kmh with builds I couldnt even imagine to buy at some point.. I deinstalled and played a lil bit forza and felt like being home again.

My main criticim of forza is the barebones progression, it could use some sort of soft progression that forces you into lower tiers at the beginning. Cars here get reduced to pokemon that never leave the box. In nfs SP it's alright I guess. But in MP that is totally seperated. It's unfair af when there is no matchmaking that matches you with lvl 1 beginners who also have nothing yet. Here we at least have equal chances because everyone can just buy some meta cars and get some good tunes going.

Not so much in nfs unbound MP. That spits you in your face" Hey welcome in the MP mode, enjoy losing for 20 hours until you can afford the effin cheap golf gti with all the elite upgrades to zip around and beat lambos like they are nothing.

Just one example. Elite upgrades cost between 20 and 50 k. You get 10-30 K per 3 race championship depending your position at the end with a small multipler the more people are in the race. You can't buy these upgrades until you upgrade the garage to the max which costs 155 k.

Maxing out a car can cost up to 400 k. Needless to say that it can take a lot of time to get a decent S+ class car that can catch up to other people.

You also need one car per class. Class system is copy pasted from forza's. B-A-A+-S-S+. Getting decent cars for all these classes is such a hell .. I really couldnt bother with it, especially when 95% of the cars are blocked behind "drive 20 S class races in a lambo" stuff of challenges.

ARGH. I could go on and on but in the end.

Everyone should try it out for themselfs without paying more than the ea pro sub lol, maybe even sailing the high seas... What I hate could be love for some other dude. I'm just so disappointed. I really needed a new racing game.

I resonate with these feelings, there's something about having too many mediocre car options and following the herd with the typical npc meta cars in Forza games but there's yet to be a game that's hit the fine line between good enough cars in a high/decent quantity to little to no cars like Need For Speed games have.

I feel like especially compared to the older games, I personally have a problem with these new NFS games having more or less the same car selection with a couple more super cars every game and not enough daily drivers/same ones that really feel nice when you make them your own powerhouse like for example you can practically say the BMW M3 Evolution II 1988 has been a staple car as a starter car in Heat and now literally featured as the Title/Box Art car after having appeared in a couple NFS games, what happened to the fun cars and variety am I right? and I absolutely agree that there hasn't been a fine line, I feel like personally the only game I had fun with every car it had in it's selection of was in TDU2, Test Drive really never gets the appreciation it deserves, I feel TDU2 especially ahead of it's time.

I'm all for car choices sure but I can agree and say I dislike the tier system heavily ESPECIALLY if it locks part of racing out/specifically ties into the story progression/limits what your car can do/the potential it can reach HOWEVER I am ok with having to start with lower end/low tier cars and progress up with them, just not having them become entirely useless later on.

now for games like Forza I somewhat understand that not being the case because it's a sim-cade casual racer so of course not every car can be equal/cartoonishly fast like in NFS games and I feel like that's a bad thing that they limit cars like this sometimes.

If the driving is fun, that's good, and from what you describe these challenges appear to then be artificially difficult/annoying to likely pad out a somewhat laughably low amount of content/actual races and I fail to understand how they think it'd be fun to grind so much to max 1 car and let me tell you the dialogue in a few modern racing games have me dead inside sometimes, they try to hard to be hip/relatable and do so in the worst ways possible

I honestly enjoy Horizon 5 despite it's flaws but Unbound does sound like something I'd likely sail the 7 seas to see for myself first but I highly doubt it's worth the price tag especially knowing how these past few EA games have been which is sad.

I am however looking forward to Test Drive Solar Crown, I know when it comes out, it'll be either slept on or praised, if they put as much love into it as they did in to other test drive games with a step up to character customization and more as they did in TDU 2, I'll hands down fall in love with that game, I'll drink to Solar Crown being racing goty when it comes out tbh, shame Unbound seems to be yet another step in the right direction and 5 steps back in other areas

and in the end story doesn't even have to be good for racing games yet they still somehow manage to mess it up every time in the dumbest ways possible with the worst tropes, it's kind of silly to be fair.

sorry for my ridiculously long reply back I hope I don't sound non sensical and hey Tyco thanks for the reply, and I agree with your views in most areas, here's to hoping we get some godsend racing games next year after so many years of mediocrity since the black box Era of NFS.
