Has anybody and/or know someone who as ran Horizon 5 on a GTX 770 or similar?
The minimum requirements state that a GTX 970 is required. However, I only have a 770. I'd like to get the game and want to know if I "can" run the game with this.

The "can" is an interesting question.
Before Hot wheels update, gtx 770 could barely run the game on low at 720p somewhere in 50 fps range.

But ever since Hot Wheels update came, the requirement for DX level changed.
Your card technically "supports" DX12, but at the wrong level (your card supports 11_0)
Now the game requires minimum support for DX level of 12_1, which is from gtx 900 range and up.

So, to save you a headache, get a better graphics card.
OR if you're curious, you can buy the game and try to play it, if it doesn't run in the 1st hour of trying to launch it, you can safely refund it.

Alright, good to note. I'm not in a rush to get the game and I know at some point or another I'll bump into a 970 or better for a good price on Kijiji or something, so I'll be waiting until then I suppose. Thanks for your help.

100%

And I will just add that GPU prices have finally become fairly reasonable again. You can find some pretty good second hand ones that are very affordable that will at least be able to run this game above XSS spec for a couple of hundred.

Yes, they have. I'm in no rush, however, so I'm just waiting for a great deal to jump on. I mean, that's how I wound up replacing my 660ti with a 770 back in summer.

If I was to buy it, I wouldn't bother with the refunding, since I'll get a better video card at some point. And I personally prefer to buy things in sales anyway, so I'll just wait for the Christmas or winter sale to come around and pick it up then.

I don't know your whole PC specs but can run it with a GTX 770. 1080p 30FPS would be the max you could do, and with settings on medium or less if you want more performance. Game still looks good on those settings, even tho it wouldn't be the best comfort. That said, don't restrain yourself from playing it, your GPU can handle it and you can enjoy the last years of its good life.

Check this video about the 770 on recent games :

And in general, YouTube (and especially this channel) is full of benchmarks or tests regarding the performance of any kind of GPU, old or new !

The rest of my PC checks off all the other minimum requirement boxes, it's only the 770. I guess I'll pick up Horizon 5 the next time it goes on sale and see how it goes then.

Well, you will be able to run the game then, enjoy it if you take it ! And you will enjoy it even more when you will upgrade your specs !

I see so m,any 3060 TI models for less than 200$ 2nd hand that I have a hard time grasping how someone can keep a GTX770 these days especially to play games wort half the price of a decent modern card.

This video was released in March 2022, before the Hot Wheels release and rise and minimal required DX version. S5yn3T was correct in his first reply.

Seriously?! Most of the ones I run into on Kijiji are around the $300 or more range. Then again, I have to pay using Canadian Confederation Tokens, so may be something to do with the exchange rate. And, again, I'm in no rush to get Horizon 5.
