Frame drops and stuttering
I'm suffering from frame drops and stuttering for a long time now and it's still not fixed.
I get over 100 FPS on high settings and i get these problems within an hour of playing, even at the start of my play session i already get some small stuttering.

Disable shadowplay overlay

I will look into that later, thank you

I have this problem too. Sometimes i got 6-7 sec frame. I tried shadowplay but now working

Disabling shadowplay overlay seemed to work for me. I also turned off Xbox game bar, maybe try that also

Same, it lags especially in the city, it's basically unplayable. Runs worse and looks worse than FH4 on my GTX 980ti. There's no excuse for it.

Same here, running way above 60fps all the time, but there are strange random stuttering/fps drops while driving. They have nothing to do with the complexity of the scene as I can go back to the point where it stuttered and won't happen again. It happens only after I wait a few secs. Seems a cyclical (network?) lag. The funny thing is that the benchmark runs smoothly instead proving is not a HW issue but some software bug in the game.

If you have AMD GPU disable SAM. I don't know why but off road races my fps drop from over 120 to 50 if I have SAM on.

weird, since fh5 is one of the few games that truly benefits from SAM

If you are running on Extreme settings, even on a high-end GPU, but you have 8GB VRAM or less, the game will stutter.

FH5 eats VRAM, and setting the environmental texture quality to Extreme causes it to use a huge amount of VRAM, well over 10GB even at 1080p.

Have nothing to do with settings. You can set highest settings or lowest setting and you'll still see those strange cyclical stutters. This is well known and there are many threads about this if you look on the internet for "Forza Horizon 5 stuttering".
Very strange also the fact benchmark runs smoothly and only in-game there are those stutterings.

If the benchmark is smooth, have you tried running it in single player mode? I saw it listed as a known issue that other players' cars' paint designs would cause stutters when downloaded, though I had only experienced it when I first loaded into FH5 online sessions, then my game ran smoothly.

There's a setting to disable other players' visual customization if you want to see if that helps your situation

Thats not true, i have a rtx 2070 8gb vram and it never goes above 7.5 and have no stutters, extreme settings except shadows at high and 4x MSAA

I don't understand how so many people post they have an issue and don't give system specs, show the benchmark test results, or even say what they have tried so far. Best I have seen is someone saying "I have tried everything". I'm starting to wonder how many people got a GPU from Wish and got a fake card and just don't know.

I wouldn't call a GPU with 8GB or less high end. If you run out of VRAM you are going to have a bad time.

I don't normally run textures at extreme so I had to test and at 5120x1440 I only just kissed 10GB VRAM usage a couple times. I normally run with ultra for the extra fps and sit just under 9GB. Im using a 6900 xt so I have the VRAM to spare.

I could see system RAM being more of an issue for people. I have clocked FH5 using over 8GB on its own and with people getting "gaming' PCs with 16GB or even 8GB of system RAM they are going to have a bad time.

Yea I had to search forever till I found a reddit post with the same exact issue I had. I lost 20fps average turning it off but I couldn't deal with the offroad races dropping my fps in half and stuttering.

16GB system RAM is just fine in 2022 for gaming the majority of the time, but if you do multitasking outside gaming, or play higher-end simulators like MS Flight Sim, I can see 32GB helping, as for 8GB GPUs being low-end...what about the RTX 2080 or RTX 3070 Super? The 3070 Super is literally a single step from the current gen flagship card (excluding the renamed Titan Workstation GPU; the 3090), and has 8GB VRAM.

As for the VRAM usage, on all extreme settings at 1080p in Guanajuato, I was seeing VRAM exceed 11GB on an RTX A4000

is it true the game use more 8GB in extreme settings at 1080p ?

Have random stutters while exploring the map me too, but not in races.

RTX 3060ti
16 GB RAM
SSD
