Agreed, cruising and racing in coop is a lot more fun. Just finished discovering and driving on all the 578 roads. Feels good, now off to the next thing.
Bar a few moved icons, this is the same as 4 and 3 tbh. Just a map pack, a very similar map pack.... Expect to get bored of a game you've played before.
If this had maybe new junction, new trees, new anything. Then it might be worth playing.
I'm here since FH1, wondering how they will ruin FM8 for me.
Fast forward to FH5 and it's woke and inclusive. It's diverse. Nothing intrinsically wrong with this but it makes the game preachy and self-aware out of the gate. It sets the tone: this is serious. It's the mentality of Twitter with game play and fancy graphics.
Personally, I game to get away from that oh-so-serious world, not have it digitally grafted onto an experience which should be about immersive enjoyment. So when a developer essentially offers you the same game on a different map but dilutes the quirkiness which made FH4 endearing, it's gonna feel inferior.
It's also incredibly disjointed in terms of progression. In fact there is no progression, merely grinding. I remember on FH4 doing all the road races to unlock the Goliath, for example, but now it's just offered up for no particular reason.
There's no doubt the map is beautiful but the game is boring. It's like seeing a beautiful girl in a bar who tuns out to have the charisma of dishwater. You'll still chat her up for a one-night stand but you're not gonna marry her.
FH5 is a one-night stand; FH4 was a relationship. I've cheated on 4 with 5, and now I'm going back with my tail between my legs.
Hard to stomach after investing big bucks in FH5, but it's not as good as the game it replaced. Maybe expansions will change that. We'll see...
This being said, like most players I'm waiting for map expansion, it's long overdue. Currently replaying first 3 FH games along with playing 5.
Much like you OP, I don't have this issue with FH 3. For whatever reason, FH 5 just doesn't click with me.
I also got bored with FH 4, but not nearly as fast because of my created track. The likely reason for this is because in FH 4, my created track doesn't have a credit hard cap, so I can run the track at 5 or 10 - 17.8 mile laps and really enjoy the neck and neck races with the AI on said track.
In short, I have no reason to visit FH 5 for extended periods of time, unless I'm racing with my friend. As said, created tracks in FH 5 have a hard credit cap of 80+k credits, so there's no point in me running 5 or 10 - 21.4 or 28.3 miles laps, since I only get the credit benefit of one lap.
So yea, that really kills any and all reason to put any major amounts of time into Forza Horizon 5. There's also the extremely boosted AI drivatars, the very annoying NPC traffic spawn distances, the empty feeling map, the limited amount of houses to buy, lack of interest in the normal tracks, and the story that just doesn't interest me.
I guess that it happens..., but the overall Forza Horizon 5 experience just isn't very interesting to me.
*extremely RCR voice*
Which Corvette is best Corvette?
"You can race people all over the world"
"That's good"
"You're going to get rammed a lot"
"That's bad"
"You can report them"
"That's good"
"You have to go to the Forza website and have recorded a clip otherwise your ticket isn't processed so if this is your first time going to report someone you're in all likelihood not going to have a clip to do so"
"Thats bad"
"Also overlays have been shown to cause performance degradation, so if you turned them off good luck reporting anything"
"..."
"That one is bad"
And it's like that back and forth for about any given aspect of the game. The game is 10/10 in purely mechanical terms but struggles with anything else.
