FH5 Support is a big joke
My Cousin has also problem with lost progress after windows reinstall.
It was saved in the cloud but still did FH create a new save and it directly overwritten the old one in the cloud after closing the game.
This was before christmas. He wrote to the support but always they seem do be only active 1 hour on mondays and fridays, and until last friday he always only got message whichs asks "If he still needs Help?" I mean OFC man soo annoying...

But last friday some support learned new words and we should do some things mentioned on a page what we already did before christmas. So my cousin answered directly and again it seems the 1 hour worktime was over and today again a message if he still needs help. i swear....

Until this accident i also thought all the progress is saved on a server with that type of game with all the online focusing/content and the Cloud"save" are just saved Settings and such. Pure evil.

So if you also have problems with lost progress and asking the support prepare for a hell of a adventure even EA/Ubisoft support wasn't this lazy and incompetent.

Yeah they ghost you, or just say "Ok" then mark it as solved. A joke, just like this whole game, from A to Z.
I told them about some shenanigans/exploit in the auctions house, they just explained me how auctions worked and called it a days... Not counting my other 5 tickets which are forever in limbo

FYI it's steam that hosts your cloud data. Maybe creat backups for your save files.

Ahhh, fanboys... Stop trying to desperately defend the game. It's the devs responsability for making sure such things don't happen. Just look all the other games on steam that don't have this problems. You probably can't even create backups for FH5, like what the ♥♥♥♥.

the savegame data is located in steam/userdata/filenumber/1551360

And i don't think you can back it up properly, as your would get in trouble with the moderation team and such if you modified your savefiles. And i'm not sure the support would give a damn.

You can safely backup for files. Don't try to make that seems sketchy. No one even said anything about modifying files. That would be on the user.

Yes, you can every easily backup the data for this. It is just folders and files. I suggest everyone backup data for games they play a lot.

I'm certain they could ban you because you put your save file back, replacing the blank one, remember that they are trigger happy. Now the support could help you/prevent that... If there was a support to begin with. My experience with them, and i'm not the only one, is far from stellar, to be polite.
Besides, you shouldn't have to backup in the first place...

He is not wrong tho.... this game is saved locally and on Steam if you activated cloud saves.

That's no excuse for poor customer support tho.

You do realize a save can become corrupted if the game crashes while it is autosaving? Can literally just create a zip-file of the save folder.. if you have a problem with the save, unzip the file and you have your save back.
Also, if local- and cloud save are out of sync, steam will open a popup asking which one you want to use/replace..

Can even use this method to backup wheelspins by the way. If you are unhappy with the result you just unzip the save and spin again. :P

Poor customers support is a ligit complain. But seeing that save data is stored at a local level, then there is very little a company can do to restore this. Also like others state before, making a backup isn't cheating. (altering the data or using 3de party software is, but where not talking about that filt)

Do you think they'll give a damn ? Especially with the non-existent support ?

If they discover you're doing that, you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥... Do what you want, i won't risk it.

He is. You shouldn't have to do that, ESPECIALLY when you paid 50 bucks for the game.

??? i did say Legit right? like in yes they have a poor service.

And backing up savegames before preforming a format is allways recommended unless your playing an MMO where save are not local. Good examples of AAA games that have only local files and cost more then 50 bucks are.
*Borderlands or any 2k game
*Elder scrolls or any bethesda game
*Fifa or allmost any EA game

The amount of money you paid has nothing to do with where your dave is located. Microsoft can't get your data back to you because they simply don't have it, don't know what is so hard for you to understand here.

That said they could be mpre helpful in recovering your data from your own computer by telling you where the files are located and how to import said files but that's all.

If YOU formated or deleted files it is on YOU, this is not fanboying to tell you that you messed up and now want to put the blame on someone else for your own mistake.

Get over it, theres nothing anyone can do for you if that's the case or feel free to keep ranting as much as you want, up to you. Ranting won't solve anything tho.

1.I wasn't talking to you, on that matter 2.Those games data don't disappear. I wonder why. But you're right it's totally acceptable in 2022 to pay 50 bucks or more for a triple A game and just have the data disappear.

I didn't say that ! Nice strawman ! You know i only said that if i pay 50 bucks, i excepted you know... Not to have my save disappear ? What a prick i know !
However, now to prove you wrong, i reinstalled fh4 because of a PC reset... Guess what ! They had my data and brought it back to me ! Wow ! This is a groundbreaking technology, i think aliens may be secretely among us that's not possible otherwise !
Also, i didn't say i formatted files ? Neither do people that complain that their save has just disappeared for no reason by the way. I didn't say my files disappeared, actually.
You're just missing the point of this discussion entierly.
