The amount of a ram a game needs depends on the title you are running and I can't give you a fixed amount as those infos are not available to me and simply me checking how much ram it uses won't really make much sense and I can tell you why. If more ram is available, more ram will be used. It really is that simple. Same goes for vram. If you for example would've had only 8gb ram and the game ran fine and I got 16gb of ram and my game also runs fine, we will have different amounts of ram allocated for the game. That's because more is vailable so more will be used but that doesn't translate to the game runningg better. FH5 works very well with 16gb ram. Performance won't differ when you are using 32gb ram or even 128gb ram. There is no change in performance based on the amount of ram itself. Microsoft very well said the games running even with 8gb of ram for a reason but you will probably have to live with some compromises with opening less apps so you cut your ram usage to a minimum. But it will run, maybe a little hicky. So 16gb is no problem whatsoever. So it's mind-boggling to me that people are actually saying the game itself is running over 16gb. Because developers are not saying the game will use that much on their requiremt section. They will put out requirements for system ram. So what your system itself needs is also calculated.
The game itself is having issues right now with it's mem leak and based on that people jump on the fence and speculate the wildest things not knowing what actually is going on.
You probably had a browser open along with tons ofbloatware (new shop pc). My system never used Swap.

That will increase a little bit over time, but not that the extend we have right now, as it's a bug.
Don't confuse the total system usage with how much the game is actually using. Go into task manager and take a look at how much memory the program is, I'd be surprised if it hits 6GB. Most games barely go to 3.5.
Close your other programs, especially browsers, to free up memory.
Or just upgrade. 16GB is pretty dated, 32 is normal now,
Using memory that is free isn't an issue. It's when you run out of memory are start using the page file that you hit performance issues.
So are you getting page faults, or are you just using memory? Is it exceeding your total RAM?
People can talk about anything they want. Simple as that.
Arrogance and condescension aren't a good look. Simple as that.
His point was that if you buy an expensive gaming pc always go for 64gb ram.
I tried to convince him that 32 should be enough.
But with 16 you can get into trouble nowadays.
And for the future it is not enough
