16GB of RAM is enough for a gaming PC!
Uh no. These new big budget 2021 games actually require a bit over that now. I need at least 17GB of RAM or over to be able to run this thing on extreme. It showed me that it was taking 16.9GB/16GB. Ever since I put this on preset "ultra", it breaks my heart with how low quality the far distance scenery looks with noticable pop in now. And the only way to get rid of that is putting it on preset "extreme", but I'm like 900mb over what my 16GB RAM can only hold. I'm gonna just get my RAM upgraded on Christmas.

Nothing wrong with my GPU or CPU power. I bought a prebuilt PC that had a hell beast of a GPU and CPU for its price, it's just my RAM bottlenecking it now.

edit: Just some things to mention for clarification. The game runs its best (80-110fps on 1440p on extreme settings) at the first 2 hours until I get a message in the game where it says my memory is at 16.9/16GB. So if I start playing longer, gradually the fps takes quite a dip to its 50-60s. So what happens is that I have to reset my game for things to run well again, so its a bit annoying to do. It's definitely a memory leak issue.

No, my prebuilt PC ain't no potato. The GPU is an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT and the CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. They're both pretty sexy. But the crap thing about prebuilt PCs at a "fair" price is that it usually comes with a limited amount of RAM which is 16GB, the usual standard and the SSDs are usually 500GB. Both of which I will be eventually upgrading. Thank god I spend most my time playing FFXIV and other games on console. (Refuse to buy an Xbox so I'm playing Forza Horizon 5 on PC).

RAM isn’t expensive, spend 50 bucks and upgrade to 32 gb

This is nonsense and you will waste your money buying more RAM, but it's your money so...

The game barely uses more than 8.

I'm playing 1440p, you're probably playing 1080p. You gotta understand how these graphic settings works, depending on your resolution, it will require more RAM if you crank certain things up.

For me, it uses around 10GB max. So yeah, 16GB is enough for this game.

It's vram, and no he's probably right, running the benchmark didn't take anymore than 12gb total including Windows and background processes. I mean it's a budget pc, you should be tapering your expectations to begin with. Adding more ram almost 100% won't help your performance.

Encountered this error only twice, I thought 16GB is the ideal spec. Guess I'm going to go for a shopping, unfortunate that the RAM prices over here is ridiculous.

The game has a memory leak, it's bugged.

Resolution is VRAM dependent, not system RAM.

I just don't want you or others to waste their money...

Yup, exactly what happened to me when I put it on preset 'extreme'.

Ooo. Enlighten me. So you think I had a memory leak? If so, how do I fix this issue?

No not you, the game. You can't fix it at your end, the developers will need to address it in a patch. FH3 was the same on PC and it looks like the old bugs are returning. Hardly anyone has over 16GB RAM in a gaming PC. All that would happen with more is that the RAM error would take longer to appear.

Now, with 16GB myself I haven't had that error yet, but then again I'm not running on the max settings like extreme, so that's probably why.

I'm just saying wait a while and see if they patch it, or just use a slightly lower setting if that helps, you probably won't even notice the difference graphically.

Lachesis580 Nov 9, 2021 @ 11:04am

Almost everyone has 32gb ram for their gaming PC? Hell no bud, check the Steam survey before you are actually talking stuff out of your ass.
45% are using 16gb ram, 23% are using 8gb ram and only 12,9% are using 16+gb ram.

Feel free to check it yourself.

I know you can't tell the exact numbers for everyone on the world as people can simply choose not to take part in those surveys but where would you get your numbers from? Those are the only numbers we have, so those are numbers we have to go with and are far more valid than just making numbers up just because you think that's how it is.
