I would leave it on for realism on street cars, but ABS in game for some reason feels horrible. Lots of understeer, which is contrary to what ABS should do.
the only thing ABS does is trying not to block your wheels while braking.... of course that doesn´t mean that you can just abuse physics and brake and steer at the same time.
you either brake or you steer ( unless youre using advanced driving techniques were you balance brakeforce and steering angle )
i personaly think you better of leaving ABS on and turn the other assits off.
once youre comfortable with braking you can try disable it and give yourself some time and see if you can adjust.
Normaly abs doesn´t make you slower, but Traction control does when its aggresiv
I play with a wheel, but if you use a controller is equally as easy to modulate your gas and brake. Try it. Trust me it isn't difficult at all. At first you will be locking your tires a bit, but eventually you'll learn to modulate the brakes, your steering and even gas inputs.
So yes, it will definitely make you better! It will help you feel and understand the car's limits. But try it on normal cars first. C, B or low A class.
it will help. if you are using a controller its kinda pointless since theres not much travel speed for the bumper to do a progressive brake in a turn that lasts less than a second.
Off. No matter what devise you're using to control it. If what you care about is being fast and you have (or are willing to work for) the skill to do it. Yes, even on keyboard. A bunch of the best players in the world are on kb and they still play with ABS off. (you can check their rivals times if you don't believe me.)
Of the assists however, ABS has the least impact on overall performance. Like usually it's fractions of a second on your lap times at most.
Traction Crontrol and Stability control absolutely torpedo lap times, as will an automatic transmission, so turn those off and be on (at minimum) manual transmission. (Manual w/clutch is a bit more context sensative. In really high class cars it's 'as good as,' not really better. In low class cars it's often *way* better because they shift so frikking slow)
There's a lot of line indications where braking is advised for no reason, advisory missing entirely or just completely wrong. Take the indicators with a grain of salt.
I actually get better guidance glancing at the map.
Do this with and without ABS. If you can consistently beat your top speed with ABS off, go for it.
