I haven't explored the A.I that much, but it seems to be slightly better than in FH4. I have managed to win in one track on Pro (one before Unbeatable), but the rest, as you say, even in Expert I have trouble. Heck, even Highly Skilled often feels like Unbeatable from FH4.
I think it might have to do with the fact these difficulties are different now, since they have added a few more below beginner, if you haven't noticed. I think "casual" and/or "tourist."
But yeah, too soon to say. I will put more hours into the game, test different cars, tracks etc. So far the one thing I really like about the A.I is that they not only try not to contact you, but even when they do, they don't feel like bricks.
We're playing all assists off.
Yea this is what I'm experiencing. I think it might just be a balancing issue with the offroad cars. Road races are doable (if the track has a lot of corners), but offroad/cross country races seem overly hard on the same difficulties. Also, the rally races are a lot easier compared to the cross country races which doesn't make much sense.
You can catch them on straights, but will literally corner at 3 times the speed.
There's "difficult", then there's just "unfair. Cheap buIIshit like this is an example of the latter...
