that's system ram though, he needs to download more video memory ;)
Or hell, shame it's not a rockstar game where you can use a simple command line.txt file, add a few lines of commands and the game will use ram as video memory :P

and no it allows you to use ram as video memory regardless. Back when i had GTX 460 768MB, i used that with gta IV when i had 6GB ram iirc and was able to max out the game. Did the same for max payne. Ran like ♥♥♥♥ maxed out though because gpu performance wasn't up for the task.
