Furnace is not accepting coal

I have 17 coal and 57 Iron and it is not letting me craft steel. It was working just now and it was only letting me craft one steel ingot at a time, and now I cant craft anything

Are you sure its not Flint? They look very similar and I have done that on several occasions myself. Which is why it springs to mind.

Another thing to try (if you have space available in the Furnace Que) is to put your materials in storage then go to the Furnace and use the Chest Icon to pull from storage after selecting the Steel Bar Recipe.

After loading ingredients, I forget an embarrassing number of times to put a piece of Wood on the Flame icon to fuel the Furnace for each item to craft, e.g. 3 Bars need 3 Wood.

Thank you all that was a bit confusing lol I did not have wood in the furnace but I had coal both are combustion sources go figure....
