Building chests

I was able to build five chests earlier in the game (I'm in my first storm season), but as soon as I bought other blueprints, I lost the ability to build chests from my build menu. Is this a bug or are you really limited to five chests in your house? I have bought both the chest and large chest blueprint.

Build Tool includes multiple pages, you can change them with "[" and "]" buttons. Chest is probably on other page than your currently selected blueprints.

The "v" button may also work ("[" and "]" are not working in my game, even if they are indicated in it). I recommand you to try different buttons.

you can craft as many chests as you like, there is even achievement to have 20 chests in your house. you either dont have material or you didnt scroll thru other building items

Thanks, everyone. I missed that you could scroll between multiple pages of building items. It would be better if there were also mouse controls (like arrow buttons) in addition to the keyboard control. Some of the interfaces need QOL improvements.

The mouse's scrolling wheel scrolls up and down the pages of the Build tool, as it does through the Toolbar at the bottom of the display.
My 25-year-old Logitech Marble Mouse finally quit. After I bought a new Logitech Mobile Mouse, I rediscovered what I was missing without that scroll wheel.
But it also loves to switch from one tool to another if I touch it by accident :-/ The wheel needs greater resistance to spinning it, like it used to have ages ago.

I do have the same issue. But I only have the crafting option, no furniture or else. I just bought the blueprints once more, but as I tried to learn them, it told me, I know them already. I changed the buttons from [ ] to others and I still cannot reach the option where I can build chests.

I have the same problem as "einzwitterion" and already tried:

- using [ + ] , as well es literally any other Key on my Keyboard to leaf through the building menu
- Buying the Chest recipe another time
- starting a new game
- using the repair button in Steam
- buying the better chest to have another option (This chest did not even appear once in my building menu.)

The only thing I can think of and have not jet tried is deinsalling the game and installing it new.

Can anyone help me, please?

Do you play with an English keyboard? The standard buttons to change the category only work with the qwerty keyboard layout.

I had to virtually install the English keyboard to build chests and chicken coops.

Since the patch, the problem can be fixed by reassigning the keys.

As I said in my comment, yes, I changed the keys and it still brought no change. Still unable to build any more chests or other furniture.

Then it might be something wrong with your save files. Before sending them to us, try to reset controls to deafult, and changing once again to other buttons to make sure none of them is working. If it won't help, send us Your save files through Discord bug-report channel. We will be able if it's something wrong with files or maybe keyboard.

hi, i have the same problem. i have the problem since 2 days. I play the game so many hours and i hope i´d need to restart. i hope it will be get a solution for this problem. i´d everythink what you write above.

[] are not working probably because you are using non-english keyboard layout in your windows. If you have english keyboard layout installed, you can switch between it and your national one by shortcut Alt+Shift.


This goes after our lazy developer. Big AAA games do not have this problem as their controls automatically translate to english layout.

As we figured out, it is not the keyboard (because we tried with changing the keys as well) and not any of the other above mentioned things.
The game is without the possibility of building more chests not playable anymore. (The chest for the trading items is nearly full as well.)

Is anyone able to solve this issue?

Hi, so still you are not able to change buildtool sites, or it's just not possible to place chest even if you selected it ?
