Considering buying
Just saw it's out on 1.0 and I'm thinking on buying it. Is it worth it as it currently is or should I wait for future updates? Much as I love Coral Island, I'd like to buy a game that's at least completed story-wise for once. All info appreciated!

Very much worth buying now, yes. There's a few different 'main' quest lines later in the game, and they're all complete as far as I know.

Aside from the Witch Exam, there isn't one single, massive main quest, like you'd find in Skyrim or whatever. Main questlines vary in length, but they build off of each other, and you get a lot of lore to enjoy as each one is unlocked.

I would recommend to wait few month or even a year. Quests actually start a lot later in game and require things which grow only half year later. It is really slow paced.

Since release started crashes. Now I am answering here just after another crash... Third one today after three yesterday.

If nothing changes a lot, you will need wiki around you to play. Nothing is explained in the beginning. Board tasks often require things that are not available in the world yet.

It is already playable and enjoyable with wiki, but often frustrating.

If you don't like major fps drops, hold off. I put 37 mins in and made me sick, I purchased after full release and don't think this game was really ready for that in the sense of graphics. They have til the 12th to fix or I'm refunding. Besides that I really want to play this game, it's peaked my interest, love cozy games. The whole concept is what I want, but I just can't with the fps drops. I ignored the negative reviews about how janky it is and I regret it lol . I figured everyone's pc specs are different, but that's not the case at all lol.

I'd recommend to wait a bit. This game still needs quite a bit of polish and the story isn't well put together IMO. Not to mention, the cutscenes are kinda rough (especially the very first, initial cut scene), you don't get an option to name yourself, you aren't really given your tools or told where to get them and instead have to figure out where to get them. There's a lot of info-dumping during dialogue that's way too much to take in at once and isn't logged anywhere in case you forget what to do (ie: looking for your neighbor Horace). The [possibly date-able?] characters for this game are all well into their 30s, 40s, or old wizards, and ,most of the models for them aren't very... pleasing to look at. Others mention fps issues. I have noticed occasionally there's some lag and my high-end PC has to kick into overdrive for a bit until it clears away (I'm thinking it's probably something with weather and calculated collisions) All in all, I'd suggest to wait a while as this game needs some more time and love put into it... and probably some mods.

I've been playing for 150 hrs+ there are some slow times and frustrations but overall I really enjoy this game. Yes, I have the wiki open to help me but they've done a great job of making it easier to progress but you have to give you time and grace to progress.
