How do you expand the backpack?
I see it in the crystal ball, that there are 10 steps for it, but how do you do it, didn't see the option to buy it at the workshop store.

You gain items called space stones from the chests and puzzles scattered around the landscape (websearch for "witch of fern island space stones" if you want a guide to finding them...)

I have came across several chests but was only able to open one, according to wiki they are color coded to moon phases or days, and can only be opened on corresponding days, that's a bit ridiculous, imo. And I suppose one stone only buys you one more slot?

In every other game I've played you either buy extra slots, or go to the store and buy a bigger backpack.

I haven't even attempted to solve any puzzles, I spend most of the time running around gathering items for quests, and then run around trying to track down the npc to turn in the quest.

The more I play the less I'm liking this game, they made it way more complicated than it needs to be, imo. Complicated to the point that it sucks the fun right out of it. No wonder why the negative reviews are starting to stack up.

One stone per slot, yes. But while the chests are moon-gated, the puzzles can be done anytime, and I think those provide more stones than the chests.

I agree with the annoyances in the game, but the puzzles, at least, aren't too rough.

There are also many other ways to get space stones. Puzzles, chests, quests and sometimes they even can be found on the ground.

I don't like how you implemented the backpack expansion in the game, with all of the gathering we have to do the inventory fills up fast, it's something we should be able to craft or buy, it's always the first thing I do when I start playing a new game, especially a game that has a huge amount resources like this one.

I dislike this way of gaining inventory space aswell. Given that there are 3 rarity of each type of item, bar a few, as stated by many your inventory fills up so fast that exploration is hindered (at least for me as a packrat!).
I feel that as a witch, then maybe we should have a spell or potion to expand our storage.

I know this, and I can guess by the crystal ball how many there are, but you need to pick up so much *plus* you can't travel anywhere without a transport system till much later (or broom, also late), and a mount I can't use due to motion sickness...

At this point I'm bored in-game by having to run everywhere, teleport back to dump my stuff in a myriad of chests, to go back yet again because my pack was full and, well, that's my average day in my first Bask season. Not very inspiring. I am literally waiting for the another two seasons so I can get those pesky time-gated mushrooms for both the Cat Quest and the broom quest.

I've stopped playing this game, with a heavy focus of running all over the map gathering items for quests and running back again trying to track down the people for the quests it got old fast, and not much fun, especially with a backpack that can only be expanded one slot at a time if you are lucky enough to find stones, that is a ridiculous design. imo. And then there are the chests that may contain stones but you can't open them unless you manage to come across them on the right moon cycle ffs.

You play as a witch and pick up the pieces of your wrecked broom right off the bat but can't repair or use it until it unlocks later in the game when the fast travel is needed right from the start, as was mentioned above. It's unfortunate that the progression of this game is off.

On top of that the graphics are messed up, I'm playing another game right now where I'm getting 120 fps but I can only get 60 out of this one because the settings don't work right for higher end machines, it seems that it doesn't work right for many people going by all the complaints about it.

This is what's wrong with the new age gamers, expect everything to just be handed to them. You do not get the broom immediately on purpose, to make you explore. Space stones are so easy to come by that I'm walking around with an inventory larger than Big chests have now and this is all within the first year. Every season has different things to collect, it's called prioritising your time, you don't just go farm the same patch over and over, picking up everything on the floor gets you nowhere.

Excuse me, New Age?? I'm a 63 year old boomer that has been playing games since the 70s.
Nobody has handed me anything, in games, or in life, I work for what I get.

It sounds to me like you are just butthurt over the negative feedback on this game. Bummer for you.:steamfacepalm:
Amo Mar 14, 2024 @ 2:46pm
Don't take it personally, apparently they like to just comment that gamers want things handed to them on posts that provide feedback. It's more annoying than the negative feedback IMO. I happen to agree it's kind of a pain gathering the space stones and I'm 40. I don't think I qualify as "new age."
