I'd like to talk about what makes this game distinct from Katamari Damacy.
I was a day-one purchaser of Katamari Damacy, and played through We Love Katamari as well. I'm seeing a lot of complaints about its similarity to Katamari Damacy, and I'd like to talk about what makes the two games different.

- Katamari Damacy rewards adding mass as quickly as possible, and that means grabbing the biggest objects you can, as quickly as you can.

- TWEotW rewards grabbing as many objects as possible before the time limit expires, and is indifferent to the size of the objects in question.

- This means that, in TWEotW, you should actually focus on the smaller objects that are available to you, which means less guesswork regarding whether an object can be picked up at all or not (which could be aggravating in KD).

Generally speaking, the game is smaller and quicker in scale, which is fine because it costs a small fraction of what KD did at launch. There are no collectibles, no clothing items, no cousins to find - and that's perfectly fine. In my opinion, it seems like the game is meant to scratch the the itch of someone who wants a fresh Katamari game, without overstaying its welcome the way Katamari games sometimes could.

And that's fine. Frankly, if I'm picking it up during a Steam Sale for less than three bucks, that's about all I can reasonably expect.

What also sets it apart is the entire lack of actual game mechanics other than walking around. WHAT FUN
