You'll have better luck finding a reliable teammate on the forum here or the relevant Discord server.
Playing in single player is fine and easy on the first two difficulties, doable on the third, but on the last two difficulties (Extreme & Insane), you either need to memorize each mission map and spawn points and perfect your preferred class OR do what other non-elite / fully-dedicated players do and team up with other above-average players and enjoy the challenge together.
All in all, the game is great but it's on you to matchmake and communicate because the devs dropped the ball on those two, which is a shame because they otherwise made a spectacular game.
No text chat either :/
Wow no text chat, i don't like this trend of some new coop to not add a decent text chat. Or worse in this case, no text chat.
C'mon devs we have 1080 widescreen at minimum, you can add a pretty damn good text chat if you wanted too.
Maybe is the consoles that are to blame for this trend.
You're new, aren't you?
But to be clear, it's people who are to blame. Greedy, horrible people. They just use the consoles to get dumb folk to give them money.
And to be a lot less snide but no less cynical: consoles are to blame for so many ugly trends it's not funny.
Checkpoint saves. That was one of the first.
"Commo rose" -- combine a made-up word with something pretty, to distract people from the fact that we're getting rid of direct keybinds to say voice chats.
Pfft, 3rd person shooters, overall, are console-spawn. Cuz dumb folk couldn't understand 1st-person. "Wait. Wuddya mean ah'm the lil' man?"
DLC being called "DLC", for that matter. They used to be called "expansion packs" :P (edit: ah the DLCs feature emotes which is why some cheesedick suit mf decided the game should have no comms. "so ppl will buy the DLCs to communicate, OBVIOUSLY" .... is what mangleagement who has no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea about games or gamers, would say.)
Actually now reading more about Cold Iron (devs) supposedly they are a "remote only" studio. If true, obvs they thought everyone in the world would be just fine on discord (this is before the IPO lmao). i.e. in combination w/ other factors mentioned, they probably just had their heads so far up their own asses it blinded them.
After the first mission you'll have a good idea if it's your type of game, can return it at that point since it'll be under the 2-hour mark.
For now, game does seem balanced up to Intense, but the two higher difficulties caused me some mild disappointment for now. Hopefully when I unlock more stuff I'll have adequate success as forced coop has never impressed me.
chat absence is, I believe, for the sake of not having to pay a dime to moderation teams, it's a smart budget thing... but the suits don't realize it costs you money, because people will play less, and also less people will play
lo and behold, the smart MBA lads
Very few games use a Client-server connection. Very, very few. Either MMOs, or a few scraps of games like Fortnite/Battlefield (ie, games with large numbers of players in a single match).
