And since you only need 2 players for a match, I wouldnt call it dead, only in the sense that there are no more dlc or major content patches being planned.
It's mostly a problem for PVP games as you need players to fill 2 teams to then fight each other.
But this is a PvAI game, where you only meed 3 people for a match and crossplaynumbers don't show on steams concurrent so games are pretty easy to get into.
Also unless your a friendless loser most PvAI games are always playable because you just hit up the gang and hop on. Plenty of "dead games" I can easily recommended because they're a good time but some of them when the 4 of us hop on we double the player count.
Ohh ♥♥♥♥, is that how games work? Had no idea! But maybe everyone can't play at the same time? But hey, act like an idiot. :)
So, when people use this terminology when they clearly see the game is alive, they call it a dead game in which they are labeled a troll. To try to get a reaction out of people. If there is an absolutely zero player average, then I would say it's dead. But it's not. Hell Asteroids for Atari isn't considered dead because there's a fan base of more than one person who plays it.
The original terminology for a dead game started off as hateful speech towards the community and developers. Later accepted as it being a player base average to successfully function correctly. But those people are ignorant to the fact and if you know the true meaning and still use it, you're hating on whatever game in which you question is dead.
The be honest with you OP, there is actually quite a lot of evidence to suggest that the game is dead, including the updates that blocks people away from being able to enjoy the experience. It's not an isolated incident that people aren't able to connect with each other. That can make the game functionally dead for many players. Obviously, the diehards remain around, but there are very few players and there are serious reasons for that.
The best thing a new player can do is buy it 75 percent off and make sure the p2p is working for them at the time (I know you already have it.) If you're asking this question despite your previous experience, then yeah, it's dead.
Bro the games at its highest player count on steam in 6 months and that isn't including crossplay numbers.
The games more than alive - and even if it wasn't the bots just got an insane buff making it easier to play with them than most randoms online.
(although with Xmas so close 100% wait for the sale and get the pathogen edition for like 66% off)
But its just weird that people go around asking if coop-PvAI games are dead or alive when you need so few people to get a game going.
When I got AFE i didn't play public games until i was already past prestige 80+ because the whole time before that i was playing with KF2, GTFO and B4B friends.
There's games out there like Space Beast Terror Fright or Unloved where you can hop on with 2-3 friends and be half the concurrent players and have a great time.
This isnt Squad where for 100 active instances to join you need 10,000 players.
This is a 3p coop where for the same 100 instances you need 300 players.
Did you took a look in the mirror?
As you said
The fact that we're getting any more small QOL patches is more than we could ask for, but as long as it's taking, even when they break something like Guard Dog, shows they're not in any hurry.
There's a reason why.
The matchmaking is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and they won't fix it, good luck with the lag fest that is Crossplay
Most I wait is 10 seconds for a full game, many are within a few seconds.
It's a you problem
So is crossplay the reason my game freezes for a few seconds every time one of my teammates enters a new room?
