meta slaves are the ones that crack me up.
Go back to your 4,000 hours in Gary's Mod.
Maybe I'll let my Marine Corp son(in Japan) know that kids still play that title.
Hell, even my 20yo only played 24 hot hours of that title before canning it.
Nuf said.
The Alien franchise goes back a LONG way bud.
This is the big boy camp, many of us were at the beginning.
And the following is thick.
Grim Dawn is an ARPG.
Tomato/Banana. Yes, they're both a fruit.
But completely different.
Also, you've only had 18 hours in AFE.
I'm trying to comprehend how you could even understand what full char/weap unlocks and later difficulty waves are even like right now.
But please felines, don't stop, continue your mute discussion here.
I am thoroughly enjoying this read with my morning coffee.
Smells like Teen Spirit
Meta will always exist you can't escape it but that doesn't mean nothing else works or that it's bad.
There will always be people that are slaves to that meta as they either can't think for themselves and make good builds or aren't good enough to make them work.
The main meta class we struggle to get away from is Recon, the ammo is hard to manage when duo'ing and for trios it can still become an issue on longer events if you don't hold near the ammo box you are given.
But after that the "non-meta" classes are still more than capable.
Our first insane queen kill was with a Doc as we figured the movement speed would help with kiting her - and it did.
Lancer has huge damage, abilities that require minimal investment really let's you take all the masteries you want for your preferred weapons.
Demo is still the king of CC, 2 knockbacks combined with a slow like a cryo and you can buy the team some 10 seconds before anything can reach you - this is how we duo'd double armoured elites. Ofc with his bleed and precision rockets he's also the fastest way to kill the queen.
The real odd one out for me is phalanx, his kit is just too passive for my liking. But I've seen some people use him to tank the queen on insane so he's obviously got something going for him.
Not to mention almost every gun in this game is viable to some degree or another even if it's just a niche on a couple of missions or classes.
People too afraid to try the other classes or experiment prolly have no idea what other roles are capable of.
As a marketing element , I think developer wants also to prolong the "life" of the game and alienate the boredom which could install over time
