WTF is up with the music?

What is with the music in most levels? None of it sounds like it belongs in an action game.

It's mostly on 2-1 where the music is like some forest nymph running through a forest that doesn't fit what is going on whatsoever.

No fan of Aliens will say this soundtrack is anywhere remotely fitting of the franchise. Are you kidding me with chapter 2? That's Star Wars at best. Literally the least fitting combat music I have ever heard. Are these posters bots besides you, OP? Literally none of this is colonial marines.

This OST completely lacks tone, there is no sense of dread or even excitement when listening to this garbage. What absolute cabbage thinks this trash is even remotely fitting for the dark, gritty and serious tone of the franchise? 2-3's combat music is like you're on Endor watching ewoks run around attempting to be funny. Again, this is not aliens and any of you who think that are either not Aliens fans whatsoever, or you're satisfied with any generic action garbage you can find.

Before you zoomers, bots, or iphone zombies have any right to an opinion on this entire subject, you'd realize both of those two songs - perhaps the core of the colonial marines - and their TONE, is COMPLETELY absent from this game.

I watched the first Alien Movie alongside and the sounds and music are spot on close to a ripp off if it wasnt the same franchise.
The intro music is pretty much insanely similar to the Fireteam Music in the Hub or some other areas.
And several sounds are directly overtaken from it.
Especially Minute 24-25:20 are a good example of how it sounds.
25:30 or 27:30 then starts to make clear how similar it is to the Fireteam Score as of now.
I was really sceptical towards this game but the music was actually a major pro point as to why i kept it as it instantly felt "Alien" to me.
I watch the entire franchise ever year at least twice. All Movies, sometimes plus the AvP ones.
So I would say i have a solid feeling of how it should sound if someone was going about making a soundtrack in the same spirit.
Possibly the best usage of it was however in Isolation.
But that game was just beyond Fanservice regarding the authenticity from the Movies, especially the main menu.

The music from 2-1 was just weird. I felt like I was in a carnival every time the obo (I think) came on. It just ruined the mood. And mission 1-1 (or 1-2) has a part that’s really reminiscent of the music from Predator (the classic, not the hot garbage fire that has been basically everything since). Other than those two though, I’ve generally enjoyed the music and found it at least mostly on point.

All alien movie genre games, especially this one stay true to the movie theme. From story dialogue, Intel data logs, weapons, vehicles, armor, abilities, map design and more. If the music didn't fit the theme it would defeat the purpose of this masterpiece.

Instead of creating a discussion on a unlikely shared opinionated comment why not just turn off the music. Not sure what your preference on music is but maybe your looking for a doom style soundtrack. Which I have and fits a lot of action games. Listen to that while killing some aliens.

I keep the game music down to level 30 so I can hear game dialogue, players and people on discord.

No, discussions and communities are a place for people to ask for help, meet new friends and possibly get together to join matches. Share common ideas and thoughts. Communities are a place for positivity. The object is to help the community grow.

You said you're what, 40? And you use abbreviated curse words. I haven't used a curse word online since 7th grade. And I'm 39. You do know not only adults play this game, but also kids. And yes, there are curse words in the game, but some parents don't know that or don't care, but we should.

My guess is that you were hoping that most would agree on your negative thoughts towards the game. But as you can see, that didn't happen. And I could be wrong and if I am, then I apologize.

I see that you actually like the game. That's good. And that your only issue with the game is the music. Not action enough for you or you believe it doesn't fit. There's music volume level in the settings. People who don't like game music choose to turn it off and play their own music. Not complain about it.

I quickly purchased the soundtrack; I love it. Also, here's a link to the composer's text commentary (so as not to ruin the music by talking over it). Also, as far as I can tell, the music was performed and recorded with an orchestra (though there are clearly "digital" instruments used, as well).

I happen to like the soundtrack. Very reminiscent of the Aliens movie, apart from the Giants in Earth tracks, but even those I don't mind. Simple enough to turn the music off in settings and just listen to whatever you want when you play. For me, it works. Especially the for the First and Last Campaigns.
