Feel free to add comments and opinions as I'm hardly a master at this game. These are the classes as I understand them.

[Gunner]-
Primary Duty: Wipe out Elites- Using its booster the gunner can fire extremely fast which lets it melt down elites when aiming at weak points. This is critical as its the only class that can do this.

Secondary Duty: Take down ads missed by other classes. IE shoot runners which is everyone's job

Special ammo consumables are good, cryo grids seem essential on harder modes.

Pet-peeves: Gunners who boost randomly outside of combat and never when an elite shows up.

[Demolisher]-
Primary Duty: Wipe out adds- With the firepower this class has its easy to assume its for killing Elites, its not. Smartgun is the easiest weapon to hit many runners and keep their numbers down. Even when Elites arrive the demo should be almost ignoring them to focus on adds. If runners are ignored they will stun lock your team so elites can get in close and finish you off. Use rockets to take out large groups of advancing enemies or weaken them. The Demos grenade is good for stunning elites that get too close or if you're swarmed with runners.

Secondary Duty: Shoot Elites with your assault rifle or sniper rifle. I like carrying mines with Demo so I can cover my own flanks if need be. Can also get turrets for extra firepower against runners.

Pet-peeves: Demos who never use the smartgun or their primary weapon and just use the pulse rifle the entire map. You might as well be a gunner.

[Technician]-
Primary Duty: Use turret to support team. Typically in a way that covers areas you aren't checking or just as extra firepower up close. Some combat zones have many ways for xenos to reach you and the turret is good to shore up those defenses. It also acts as a lure for elites so dont put the turret on top of critical areas like med packs and ammo boxes.

Secondary Duty: This is similar to primary as your turret will be putting in work still. Regardless of whats happening you should be gunning down xenos with your close range weapons. If you use the heavy pistol you can even take out targets at range and hit weak points. Bring extra turrets or cryo grids for extra support.

[Doc]-
Primary Duty: Keep your teams HP topped off. Because you need med packs to refill the station, I suggest not using the med station to heal at all and make sure you take damage so you can use all the med packs in an area to refill the station. Sometimes that involves waiting for those random xenos to show up to get a tick of damage. You can also use med packs to heal teammates which will allow you to pick up another one.

Secondary Duty: Shoot Xenos of course. Pulse rifle and Pistol are a pretty well rounded combo of weapons

Pet-peeves: Docs who never put the healing station down

[Recon]-
Primary Duty: Keep team fed ammo so nobody has to use the ammo box unless its an emergency. Keep the drone running for identification and after that just shoot xenos and focus on Elites. Recon makes for a good sniper with its stability boost from the PUPS drone. I'm not good at sniping so I use the pulse rifle and flamer.

[Phalanx]-
Primary Duty: Not sure yet, class seems like it needs work. Its weapon selection are like that of tech but its role is not fully clear. Its melee should be boosted, it needs acid resistance and its shield should only go away if you're tackled to the ground in my opinion.

Imo technician is all about area denial and should be making use of coils: cc, visibility and general goodness that can be stuck to walls, floors, and mobs themselves.

Yea, Ill agree. Charged Coils is the real focus of the tech. The turret is a handy bonus. Also, you put that you should not use your med station at all, but then go on with the rest of the paragraph saying you SHOULD use the station. Perhaps a edit is called for. Other than that, good work.

Tech can outright slow anything anywhere. Blocking path, as well as debuffing targets. Range on E ability is massive boon. And also throwing it onto Elites directly. Complete area denial with flame turret+electricity as well as covering up choke poitns easily

Doc can do the same with it's station, slowing down enemies as well as healing team. And that station has massive range.

Phalanx is a decent tank thatt can screw elites as well as adds with mostly cqw-shotgun perks. That pump action with type pistol can cover up from long to close range easily. And it's aoe concussive stun works well.

You completely missed the recons BEST skill. The drone not only shows enemies but also can slow ALL visible enemies by 30% which is extremly helpful. I play this with a drone build on 10sec cooldown.. drone lasts for over a minute.

I have the same build. Recon is my favorite class and I have been most succesful with it. Also I have this "Got your back" talent which is extremely good in tight situations when team gets surrounded to close combat. You get easily magazines full autoreloaded for you and your team mate when you kill Xeno that is attacking or attempting to get close of your team mate. I just let my pump shotgun sing without need to manual reaload at all. I have done couple Extreme level mission with Recon :)

Every class can do any job with the right set up other than doc which is trash. Please don't use the doc class just use the other ones.

I would say in higher difficulties is good to have 3 different class. So far the best setup imo is recon, demo and tech/gunner. Recon maintains ammo capacity, gives visibility/slows incoming xenos with PUPS and can be a real workshorse in close combat situations with "Got your back talent".

Demos knockout power and area dmg comes really handy against incoming Elites and big swarms.

Techs Sentry and Charged coils gives valuable zoneing/cc power in any situation.

Gunner ofcourse gives valuable firepower boost and extra clearing power.

A good Tech can lock down an entire flank with a flame turret so the entire team can all but ignore it and concentrate elsewhere.

Agree with most of this. Docs 30% damage resist station is awesome. Use this when covering a flank which allows the heavy hitters to do their job in other areas. Phalanx are the kings of Synth maps, pushing the enemy and soloing the Elites quite easily.
