Gotta say, flamethrower standard players, can be hilarious sometimes.
It's pretty obvious when someone comes from standard into intense/extreme. The way they act, how fast they run into ambush situations and of course, if they are a demo, the quickness in burning team mates. This one was special though, he let the teammate get pounced, burned him alive, I ressed him, another alien came out of no where and he burned him alive again. The other teammate showed restraint in not just shooting him in the head, but he chased him around meleeing him trying to show him "I don't wanna be crispy." all while I was laughing hysterically and going "Yup, standard player."

I remember when my group jumped from standard to intense. I love using flamethrowers, both the heavy and the cqw one, our first few runs had us serving ourselves up as deep fried marines to the xenos lol. I specifically remember at the end of 1-1 yelling at them to "Get on the elevator! Hurry!" only to immediately flood the elevator entrance with a long burst from my incinerator. We still laugh at that to this day even though it was nearly a week ago. We've gotten much better, but I still get crap anytime I bring the fire out lol

I blame the devs.
They teached carelesness with not having any FF whatsoever on Standard or not having Intense being the default mode.

you make me smile, it happend to me yesterday. i didn't killed it in time, then the prowler and got me and get rekt by the flame thrower. and like you say, you really need to restrain yourself. so we decide to let him go front and do what it want and support as much as we can and try to keep xeno from us, not because xenos are dangerous, because of him x)

but this is pretty rare right now they are still some specimen, pretty dangerous aka the flametornado sapience sapience, but the most friendly fire i suffer is often people who panic and use shotgun right in your face. i even down someone today for that, i got ambush by a runner, got hit but no problem then the gunner turn around and just full auto in the corrido, i lost 3/4 of my health the other mate half and it happened, the mental boom, full auto in the face, the funny part the other random player didn't even rez him. it was fun but i'm not proud of it.

I didn't say it would be popular. I'm just saying what I said. It teached them to be careless. That's all. They might still be moaning, but I'm sure they'd be bit a more careful. :steammocking:

Just offer proper matchmaking and a difficulty barrier.
To me this day has been frustrating. Playing with randoms is super pointless.
I wanted to do Horde Mode getting to the later sections in Standard to see whether i can get new items that way.
But my standard teammates are unable to even get through the first 10 waves without wasting all resources and going down plenty.
So i went Intense and tried to do the same thing.
People however are insanely stupid, waste their healthpacks or run into friendly fire, especially Demo dude with Grenade Launcher is unable to just hold the line running around as if its Casual Mode.
Its pointless to play with randoms at this point. The ones i get matched with are the absolute rockbottom.
Not the rockbottom of Alien Fireteam players, not rockbottom of PC Gamers, they are Rockbottom of Gamers in total and possibly struggling hard as a human being in real life.
Not noticing that you get 30 shots from an MG into your back because you strafe left and right into friendly fire and having a medic that constantly heals the guy wasting health packs is beyond.

I think i quit at this point.
I like playing the game, but i cant get forward as of now because of the matchmaking.
The worst is, im stuck now.
Im in Elo Hell because i cant play Intense, as the standard guys that are unable to use their head are pestering me there.
I cant play Standard as the noobs pester me there.
I cant play anything above Intense because A: its possibly too tough and B: the Standard guys believing they are the greatest possibly also flood that difficulty.
Im stuck with Bots on Intense.
Barely works, but the other option would be worse.

you are kinda pessimist, intense is going pretty well even with random, like i said you have some people who doesn't want to use their head but mostly it's fine. even 450 rating can do the job, just be sure to ping. and sometime teach them the hard way. when you have to handle a specific position do not follow them and keep your toes where it's safe. even if you are last at clear/damage. do not try to shoot when they rush just cover the backline. sometime the best decision it's just to not shoot. we are on the same region so i feel you are part of the problem. i don't want to be rude or anything but maybe you do something wrong in your playstyle.

my dream come true ! i unlocked the achievment "finish a game in intense without any friendly fire", and got it with randoms.
Maybe humanity is not doom oO

i feel like the rate that the flame thrower melts aliens is disproportionate to the rate that it melts marines.

it just needs to have its FF tuned down a little bit.

Im doing nothing wrong at all.
I have people that outright just run left and right over the entire space we have available.
I position myself on the outer edge of a hallway to shoot and not hit anyone, but people i get matched with ever just run into my fire anyway, left and right, rolling around, then standing directly infront of me.
The only way i couldnt hit them was if i was standing like 50 metres on the other end of the section.
I had a guy with agrenade launcher jumping through the horde mode map like a lunatic, he got hit left and right by aliens and the other guy and i tried to fend them off.
But he constantly runs into our fire getting hit, shooting grenades next to us to kill aliens that could have been better killed with a rifle.

Andi get matched with such players all the time.
I had 2 matches as of now where i had good players.
The entire rest of my games have been complete useless idiots not able to play the game in a way that wouldnt end up wasting the run.
Right now all my sessions end up that i have to carry the entire session.
I have adapted to not use medkits and leave them all to my teammates because they tend to die soon and get damaged by total noob aliens.
I have also adapted to position myself to not constantly hit them by accident although they run around.
Its annoying as hell, but it kinda works.
However its constantly up to me to make the mission a success and i would rather have players that are able to at least have understood the absolute basics of the game.

Its cool that your randoms have been great players, mine havent.
My randoms were all totally useless noobs that i had to carry through.
And im not the greatest player either, which means tons of wasted and lost runs because they needed 4 medpacks per mission to survive and still barely did.

well at intense marine and runner have similar hp so they both die as fast ,at extreme and insane they have more hp than marine so yeah... and the flamethrower does tons of damage , the small cqw one does over 1k dmg

Flamethrower = teammate more dangerous and more damaging to you than enemies.
Flamethrower = abandon match.

yes, the FF from it is a bit odd, but i think is in the part of the fact that flamethrower don't do real instant damage but apply a status so it's not consider as a gun shot.
In the same way you do not get heal in the recon drone when you kill xenos with the flamethrower since it's the statu and not the weapon, and even if the target die continu to do damage, that why flamethrower end with tremendous of damage at the score board when in fact there are no enought alien to get it with others weapon.
So i guess statu are not affect by the FF reduction since the game consider it's not the gun but the effect.

and yes it's should really be nerf since in intense it deal full damage instead of reduce.
