Enemy health increase makes higher difficulties not fun & breaks many weapons
The higher difficulties in this game simply aren't fun for one big reason: The increase in enemy health completely changes the feel of the game and makes many weapons completely pointless.

Having to complete the missions while taking less damage and using less ammo are good challenges. These are things that challenge your mastery of the fundamentals of the game, and that's what higher difficulties should do.

Friendly fire is also alright as a game mechanic. I know some people hate it, but I think having to coordinate with your team and practicing some trigger discipline also add a reasonable challenge.

Upping the enemy health however ruins the fun in high difficulties. It changes the whole feel of the game when positioning yourself so you can mow through a swarm of runners simply doesn't have any results because their health is now too high for you to kill all of them after lining them up. It doesn't feel like the game requires you to play better, it feels like the game has taken away one of the way in which you could play well.

It also completely ruins many weapons. Sniper rifles are great in normal difficulty, but by the time you jump up to Intense they are already useless because they simply don't kill most enemies in one hit anymore.

This is one of the most common ways in which the balance breaks in RPG/Shooter hybrids. When the health of enemies is scaled up significantly weapons that rely on first hit kills to be useful, such as sniper rifles or missile launchers suddenly require two or three hits, and simply become useless because they are too slow when their kill speed gets cut in half by giving enemies bigger health pools.

This is a fun game, but there is honestly no incentive to try and work up to beating the campaign on insane difficulty, because anything past Intense simply isn't fun, and it's because of all the enemies turning into bullet sponges.

Higher difficulties are fun, higher enemy health is right, more realistic,

care to elaborate? I am genuinely curious as to how realism factors in here.

Body shots dont do much to their bodies but weakspot shots do insane damage. Kinda like the movies.

ummm, in the movies they were highly susceptible to any gun fire. They possessed no special resistance to it. They melted under straight fire from a pulse rifle. The main strength the xenos had was their numbers and ambush tactics, they weren't these heavily armored tanks. Older games had this down such as alien vs predator. If you controlled a xenomorph you were quick and agile, but if you got caught in the open by marines it was night night.

Not true, unless you play cheap snipers with fast fire rate.
with the balista you can one shot runners in xtreme without landing head shot and for special you can 2 head shot most of them. breakpoint is an important thing just like in vermintide 2. and don't look over the drone cosummable, every members of my team, have this the 25% more damage help a lot for all defending point. if you don't want to use your brain we can't help you.

Nonsense, how the fact you need to take better position and landing more head shot is not part of you getting better ? higher difficulty mean you have to land headshot properly, the first riffle 3 head shot runners is pretty fine in xtreme and insane just build properly and aim properly. tech help a lot for that. knowing every map is something too, like in the last mission, 50% of the time there an armored xeno right after the first corridor.
knowing where prowlers spawn, and little ambush too, if you know where the enemy is coming from, you can easly anticipate it and detroy it.

All i hear is i'm not good enought so it's not fun to play in higher difficulty. there is no problem with that but don't complain about it, i have no problem with the difficulty right now. if you are in insane you should have unlock everything with your money so you can buy what you need as consumable and take gears to suit the right mission.

Intense difficulty is not even a problem. Extreme/Insane are questionable. Extreme has the slightest chances though. For insane I doubt it. Here's how I view the up HP on the enemies. I believe it slows the game down because how spongy they are (The specials) and I guess drones I think there not a problem to be honest. I think they're dmg should be higher and health same as intense difficulty if that makes sense.

I do not mind the increased health with special enemies or armored whatever they are called but I do wish mobs did not get that buff to health.
Padds 2021 年 8 月 31 日 上午 12:49
intense feels right to me , if your body shotting their spongy but a couple of rounds from an SMG will pop the noodle still, the lower difficulties feel wrong to me the aliens just dont have any health , they need to take few rounds.

havent played the harder difficulties yet , but thats the joy of multiple difficulties you can pick the one you like

There's no sponges in my game. Maybe build your guns and skillset better?
They are in your game, no matter how cool you and your buidls are since the difficulties increase HP of enemies = sponge.

Nope, enemies on low difficulties are opposite of sponges, ice statues that shatter with one hit. That's not immersive to the series. Intense is the first true to the series difficulty. And extreme has such a minor HP increase it's not noticable. Haven't tried insane but I bet it's as similar. So again, build your deck better or stop trying to play on difficulties you clearly aren't ready for. It's not meant for randoms or solo play.

first people complain xenomorphs die too easy now they complain they die too hard on "harder" difficulties. there is no way to please some people.

Still easy to kill :X depends on player and equipment

High HP enemies are standard in good Shooter-RPG games (all RPG, MMO, Destiny, THe Division, Anthem etc). One player cas shott in 5 minutes 500 enemies if HP are too small.
kiario 2021 年 8 月 31 日 上午 4:36
Perhaps make enemy HP on extreme and insane 2x standard but increase damage dealt to make you take max 3 hits before downed is a solution. Also double the amount of enemies.

It's hilarious that you actually seem to think you were very witty just now while the contradiction is bare for everyone to see in your own post.
Can't make this stuff up.
